and GoldHound it looks like a WM12 module comes with it, and the xchange2 as well.
cheers dave
That's disappointing the ctx uses a WM10 module I bet there not compatible with the gpz .
I'm not that interested in discrimination as long as it has the 40% extra depth that alone will do just fine.

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
The operative word may be the word, 'UP' to 40%...rather than 40% extra....if a GPX5000 detected to 3 feet <.91440m> then 'UP' to 40% extra would mean 'UP' to 4.2 feet <1.2802m>....gain of' UP' to 1.2 feet extra depth over the GPX5000.....I wonder how a GPX5000 using a 20" NF mono coil would compare in depth to the 7000 with its 14"DD?......that will be the interesting/relative comparison....and relative to their respective purchase prices as well...
I can see we are heading into a new world of detector platform design and features <which is great/fantastic>....Hoo Roo

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
The 40% extra depth is stated as an average. What l'm guessing is more than 40 in mild ground and less than 40 in heavy to extreme ground.
But just in case l'm wrong l did some maths on a good dig. Using 40% GH got a 14 gram in heavy mineralised ground 19.5 inches round to 20 for simplicity + 40% = 28 inches using 15 x 12 mono
l'd be happy with that.

To those folks out there who have used the CTX3030, can you make some comment from the picture in the above link, is the photo (control pad) different to the 3030 or have they just changed the photo a little ?
Also from your experiences with the CTX platform, ie; construction were there any issues with the batteries, weight distribution, any play in the shaft? just trying to get a picture if the CTX was that awesome so to justify the use of this construction, not bagging minelab, but it would seem they are using already developed construction to package their new TECH, just like they did with the SDC2300 & we know that has a few issue's.
Your thoughts would be interesting.
The Battery pack is larger , weight distribution might be the same given that the coil would weigh more
The Pad looks about the same
The shaft stacks up ok , some have shafts replaced early on
Bring it on
Marty
Not only is the battery pack bigger, but it appears from the photos that the housing on the GPZ 7000 is longer/bigger than the one on the CTX 3030.

Larry is spot on. The real test will come when the 7000 is compared to the 45 or 5 with a big coil. 18" and up. I and many others I'm sure will be very interested in these results.

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
I am sure ML would have a skid plate on any coil they design, love to know how much it will cost us $
I bet ML is wearing there carpet out for the announcement on how much it all is going to cost us

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
I'd say that the 14" would run a lot quieter at the same depth if you had to run a 20" on a 5000 to reach the same depth
and if ML has a 18" super DD in the works surely it would then leave the 5000 for dead , given that any large coil on a 5000 just loves EMI

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
A big qu is whether or not the coils are interchangeable? By the looks of the specs possibly not.
There is talk that the 7000 is the first of two new releases in the next yr or so. Don't know how true this is but it may be the second machine that could allow for coils to be changed? Until then we wait in anticipation for release and of course a price??

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
New platform design, none of the older coils will work on the GPZ
I posted JP this question at another forum
Is the ZVT a phase change design in the coil ???
I know he cant answer that at the moment , in time he will .

You could only Imagine how many E-Mail JP is getting on questions about the GPZ and yet all would known is confidential agreement with ML.
If I was him I would turn my inbox off once it has been released

Going on the CTX3030 prices can anyone tell me what a spare battery pack would cost so that you could have one on charge while using the other.

Not sure of the price for a full Li setup, but you can get a "Alkaline CTX 3030 battery holder Suits AA batteries 3011-0117 RRP $55.00" from the ML dealers, it looks the same on the outside and you put AA's in it, probably not a bad back up for $55 bucks.

Competition?????
Before putting your hard earned down you may want to do some due diligence. I was checking out the Prospecting Australia forum when I came across a post that links to this forum: Full credit to the poster!

Hi All
This is a quote from another forum.
Just had the phone call asking for my deposit, the official price they were not allowed to say but when pushed they did confirm that it is a bit above $10.5k
full details and specifications are released 9am on the 18th. The first round will be available to those who paid a deposit and those who did not they are plenty of detectors available which they will release after another week.

So is it just me or do the rest of you find it difficult to put a non-refundable payment on something you don't know the price of and know nothing about?

Difficult, but about 40 years ago I had to put an approximate 10% deposit on a yacht that I wanted, just so that the company would go ahead and build it. Later on I found out that they were having cash flow problems due to court challenges, but all came through on schedule. The final price was approximate, but ended up close to the estimate.
The difference between the two cases is that the yacht specs were known and the performance had been reviewed, although perhaps this was a bit suss. So a less than 5% fee to cut back on the tyre kickers and associated admin headaches, is understandable.
