1. Maybe there is an option not to turn on, I hope so as I too have other options that I use.
2. Look closely, it slides forward/backward like the SDC
3. Only if you get rid of you 5k, which personally i would never do. Might be a good time for me to buy some more.

I don't see much sliding happening with this handle, I think it's the telescopic shafts that you can see. It's pretty much the same as the CTX3030 not the SDC2300

Hope you are wrong, first thing Mrs Redfin and I do when we swap detectors.
2300 slides forward for her.
5K handle gets moved further away from the cuff.
I like the cuff nearly at the elbow, with arm fully stretched to the handle.
I presumed that band at the top was a slide?
EDIT, was had a look at the setup vid for the 3030 and looks the same, and slides.

Yes the arm rest may well slide back and forth but when you said the handle............ well you know, that looks to be fixed.

Redfin,
Thats what it does on the 3030, so i suppose it will be the same.
Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
I wonder if we will be able to use the B&Z booster and twin speakers that we have become so used to on the GPX detectors, or indeed will we even need to?

The B&Z Booster, including the latest lead mod, has been used on every field test I've ever conducted.

I would say you could just plug it into the top of the wireless Module as you would on the 3030.

Yep looks like the cuff slides back and forth.
Even though I've always thought the cuff on my SDC was forward for folding away and extended for use
it only locks in those two positions.

gGPZ 7000
looks like "Steve" from USA did allright,2 1/2 ounces at 2 1/2 feet, and "John" from Australia had the gold flowing very quickly if the ads are correct. Everything sounds awesome EXCEPT for the price. Also looks like we will need to take an overnight swag with us to dig the holes.
By the way don't forget to refill your trenches(oops sorry holes)!

You say you can't be bothered folding your sdc 2300 any more, is that because of the add ons and zip ties on it that you have to reassemble each time? Anyway thats why I don't fold mine up. And I think the ctx is actually shorter in length than the 2300 so how do you find holding the 2300 for extended periods. I'm 6' 1''. It looks like the new 7000 has the same housing as the ctx with a new circuit board and coil possibly. Thats going to hurt my back.

Pretty much, I have a false floor in the Prado so all the gear slides in and cannot be seen anyway.
As for the weight I just swap hands or if tired throw a bungy onto the Camelbac.

Wonder if the harness will come with it to handle the weight or will it be an optional extra.
Bet that coil's heavy.

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
Weight wise I can't see it being much different to the CTX3030 which is 2.36kg according to the manual. GPX5000 weighs in at 2.4kg and the SCD2300 weighs in without batteries at 2.3kg
I think if a machine feels comfortable to use then it seems lighter anyway.
The 14" super DD coil that the GPZ7000 is coming with will probably weigh a few extra grams.
Anything in the weight range of 2.3 to 2.4 kg is what we are used to anyway.
With 40% extra depth I don't think you will notice if it has any extra weight cos your nugget jar will be way heavier than before.
cheers dave

The weight is 2.36kg with batteries, so a bit lighter than the gpx.

I find the SDC is painful to swing for extended periods without a bungy, I've now fitted a bungy and it's all good.

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
i must be getting old, i have read all the previous info, but still cant determine if this 7000 is the next u-beaut top of the range minelab model to come out soon? or is it the "simplified" user friendly, mid range and priced, middle of the range(and priced) interim machine issued to get us all excited about the next big thing to come later? (that will probably have minor changes to shut us wingers up, and with no real improvements in performance?) ... kev

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
I wouldn't be able to swing a 3030 all day without a bungy unless putting it down often to dig.
They must of found a way to make that coil a lot lighter than their previous ones, and its a dd.

Re: GPZ7000 RELEASE DELAYED ??
I am really happy that they are using the CTX 3030 platform for the new GPZ 7000.
Its a really well designed platform, its robust, the coil cords are internal, wireless head phones/speaker
and like the balance and ergonomics of it.
I just hope they fixed the problem they were having with the LCD a few people I know had problems with the LCD on the ctx.
I hope they make it pair with the exchange 2 software, so I can program all of my modes and settings for different locations and keep them in my prospecting file.
And I hope that they use the same wireless modules as the CTX because I already have 3 of em.
And I hope the include an empty battery pack like they did with the CTX as its a good fail safe to have in the scrub.

As well as a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack they supplied an empty one that you put disposable AA battery's in.

I don't recall seeing you using any of the CTX's in your finds on the recent video? I guess that you use them for a different purpose.

Looks like no discrimination at all with the 14" super-D coil
and GoldHound it looks like a WM12 module comes with it, and the xchange2 as well.
