Re: New GPX 5000 and 4800 views
Some blokes using these 5000 detectors in the west say that there is nuthin between it and a 4500.
two 5000 detectors tested with one 4500. nuthin in it they tell me.

...and what is it you would have us draw from that inference Paragold?
I own a 5000. It is better than my old 4500.
I am speaking from direct knowledge not hearsay.

Re: New GPX 5000 and 4800 views
I can't answer the difference between a 4500 to 5000, but between a 4000 to 5000 it is like the 5000 is not switched on it's that quiet. Note, I also thought that when I upgraded from the 3000 to the 4000.
The stability of the 5000, to me, was the first noticeable thing. It is quiet. Almost too quiet.

The area I go to in the Triangle is way too hot for normal for ANY machine.
Having said that I didn't try Normal. The 3000 could not be run there without a DD and 4000 needed sensitive smooth.

Re: New GPX 5000 and 4800 views
The 4500 and the 5000 are VERY similar. Side by side with the same coils they may seem indistinguishable to some users. I find that the 5000 is a little too sensitive to metal on my person (ie. belt buckle etc). This can be solved with a longer lower shaft. This is especially applicable to larger coils.
But if anyone complains that their 5000 detector is "too quiet", I usually have to remind them that their threshold setting is probably way too low.
