Hi BetaGod
The 4800 is a 5000 without the fine gold timing. The 4800 and 5000 have an upgraded Enhance timing over the 4500.

Hi Betagold,
If you are in Italy i don't think ground noise will bother you while detecting.
Gpx detectors are very quiet if fine tuned properly.(noise depend of many factors). So both of them will be extraordinary good.
You can read Steve Herschbach review here:
http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/144-minelab-gpx-4800-vs-gpx-5000/
5000GPX has been much more used in Australia then 4800.
I think you referring here to 5000.
I was detecting with 5000 few months ago very close to Italy (80 km) and detector was so quiet i had to check all the time if its on.
These machine are capable of great depth and if there are no Emi whatsoever then get prepared to dig some big holes.
If you need any info just ask.
Hope it helps little.

Little to read as both detectors are compared next to each other:

Hello golden and thanks for reply!
In my place (south of italy) the soil is VERY mineralized (red soil) and i want to buy a machine who can works more quieter and deep possibile.. at this moment i have the sd2200v2 but is not very quieter as gpx series.. so I would buy a gpx 4800 or 5000!
