gpx 4800 umm.
hi all,
there have been quite a few comments and threads on the 5000.
But i am wondering if anyone has bought a 4800 or has had a chance to use one.
Exactly what niche is it meant to fill? And does it do it well?
cheers,
tharhills

The Northern Europeans were previously using the GPX-4500 to find buried coins and treasure hoards left behind by the Romans, Saxons and Celts. The Egyptians and those in the Mediterranean were likewise using the 4500 to find buried graves and treasure.
Both of these regions offer minimal mineralization so it would appear that the GPX-4800 is aimed towards Northern European users. The new GPX-4800 'Treasure Mode' for benign ground is a giveaway. No doubt it would be an effective detector for such applications.
The GPX-5000 would be aimed at users with more intensely mineralized ground such as Australia and Africa although the US nugget collectors will find plenty of use for it as well.

I work in heavily mineralized areas in the US and couldn't see the purpose
for a 4800. Your comments make the most sense of anything I have read concerning it,
thanks.

yes nero,i leve in france, i use the 45, to go deeper than a VLF in all type of ground (very benin generaly) . I'm verry happy to use the 45, but i'm not sure i'm going to buy a 48 juste to have the "relic mode".

Holy cow! I had no idea there were members here from so far away. Thanks for your input and for taking the time to reply. Please feel free to post about your experiences with whatever detectors you are using if you should get the chance.
All the best,
Marco

Re: gpx 4800 umm.
hi australia,hi nero
i'm searching very little antic (VI th century before JC) silver coins (sub gram (0,15 to 2,6 g) in very bennin groud.
i use a VLF the XP deus a total wifi french detector the best VLF much more better than others (YES WE DID IT), very efficient in discrimination, but it's a vlf, so if i want to go deeper than other VLF users, i swing the 45 with a DD 5 X10 coiltek. Coiltek people are fantastic because they made me a 2 meter cable for the joey, so i can carry the unit in my carry bag.
I dig a lot, very ofen for antic trash (antic nails), but sometimes for a very rare silver coin like my picture.....
thanks for minelab for the gpx...
regards

Re: gpx 4800 umm.
good morning TheH0ward,
that depend of where you want to detect, if it's an area littered of iron, forget PI.
If you are on a "clean" area with deep (good interessant) targets, try a GPX.
