Where are all the 4800's
Hi guys, just food for thought.
I have been looking to upgrade, either a 4500 or 5000 or just wait for the next model..
But seriously what happened to the 4800's, There must be a storage shed full of them..
Why werent they popular? Were they released to close to the 4500 and 5000?
Or was there no real diff between the 4500 and 4800?
I have never seen one for sale, and as far as settings etc go on forums, they are few and far between..
If you take out the guts out of a 4800 and put it in a 4500 control box it would probably sell for more? Am i right in saying that?

Re: Where are all the 4800's
G'day maka
Thats a good question, they don't seem popular here in Aus, from what I've been told they were more for the Euro market for relics perhaps.
They were released at the exact same time as the GPX5000 and were a supposed replacment for the GPX4500.
But with less features than the GPX4500 they were ment to replace they didn't take off here at all by the looks of things.
Read the specs (you can download the manuals from the minelab site) on the 4800 compared to the 4500 and the 5000 and you will see what I mean.
You would be wasting a good 4500 I reckon if you were to replace the guts, as you say with a 4800's guts.
If you want to up grade and carn't quite justify the price of a new 5000 then the GPX 4500 will be just fine.
cheers dave
