Hi Claimpeg
Just have a quick think about what you are asking of JP, breaking of confidentiality agreement comes to mind,
I'm sure once they are released the info will come out if he is able.
cheers

May I humbly suggest that he is away in WA earning a living for himself and his family.
Perhaps this would be a good time to consider where the information on how to operate a new detector comes from in regards to what settings to use. I understand that there are several testers who evaluate a new detector, but who do you see freely give out information to help you out and make the transition easy?? I don't see any others coming forth to help the rest of us out!! Some of us need to reconsider what we say on public forums. Cheers.
Re: Jonathon Porter views
So he's out testing the machine thats good, im not jealous or bitter, and would be looking forward to the new video and if i buy the new machine i would buy jp's vid and i do appriciate the effort he goes to putting it all together but however id like to point out its not for free and i dont have a problem with that at all, and i could not care less what the testers do they cant grid all the ground out there, like i said i would. ?

Re: Jonathon Porter views
Hello everyone, yes I have been away prospecting trying to make a living for myself and my family, as is usually the case with a new release I tend to go to ground and avoid well known areas to avoid innuendo and gossip. Australia is a huge place and I've been traversing it since 1993 so feel I have a reasonable supply of prospective areas to go of my own without the need to hammer anyone else's.

What's the RRP on the GPX5000? is it worth it to upgrade? i see that Gpx4500's aren't selling on ebay so how much are the 45's worth as trade-in's?

Re: Jonathon Porter views
CJ your comment has been deleted for Jonathan deserves more than remarks like that. He assists others far more than many others in his position and you are given the opinion to purchase DVDs, where he sees it will benefit the person he is assisting. His opinions are free of charge and are certainly appreciated.
It this is the way you show your respect for others, unless you have something positive to add then i suggest you keep quiet on topics where you dont add value.

Re: Jonathon Porter views
I don't have much to say on the subject other than this, Minelab have an excellent track record which speaks for itself.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so here's 2000 words worth.

Testing new products
JP I can certainly understand you trying to find a secluded spot to test away from prying eyes. Have a mate who drives new Ford models before they are released and since the advent of mobile phones with inbuilt cameras has jerks drive over double lines to get a side on shot and follow him to get better shots. He cannot stop in town for a drink or toilet break due to the fever created by motor enthusiasts. Bit like the fever created when a new detector is being released.

That's a 16" Round Nugget Finder Advantage.
That one goes pretty deep but was previously a little noisy at that size... But the new GPX-5000 sorts this out.

Hi Nero, How do you know this, have you ever used a gpx5000? How do you know the detector in Jons pic is a gpx5000?

The coil is an 18" NF Advantage and it poops all over the 16" round by a very silly margin.
Celeste (whoever you are ), I blurred the pic slightly on the edges to highlight the size of the hole which answers the question posed by posters about depth (its called adding depth of field and the law of thirds (ask your friend Marco he'll know what I am talking about )). I think by now I have more than established enough credibility for readers here to trust it was a very deep hole and the dusty looking thing in my hand is a decent lump of gold without my having to go into huge spasms of trying to prove myself. Facts are I dug a BIG hole recently and it had a decent piece of gold at the bottom and it was found with something with an upside down end cap.

Gday Jp
Well done, its nice to get to the bottom of the hole and find a nice lump of gold rather than crap, last time away I dug a similar sized hole just to be rewarded with the bottom 20mm of a beer can, I told myself right from the start that it was rubbish and because I had found some decent sized pieces in that area I didnt want to walk away from it.
My first piece that I ever found was encased in white stuff like that, had me confused for a bit, until I scraped off an edge and saw the gold, wasnt as big as your lump but made me happy all the same.

Hi JP,
First of all congratulations on a nice find. I am a little confused by your comment regarding the relative merit of the 16” & 18” NF coil. Would you please like to elaborate on the relative capabilities of the two coils. Is there much between them. My interest in this question is that that I possibly looking to sell my 18” NF and purchase the 16” NF. I tend to find the 18” a little two big to handle and even with a hip stick I find it tiring and a strain on my back.
Cheers

JP, sorry forgot to ask.
Due to the depth of the find is the new 5000 making the difference. Was it old ground you were working or new location. Your opinion would be keenly sought.
