off & running 2023
I got up early and finally got out for a decent go before the heat set in.
A gully in Bendigo known for some chunky nuggets was the target, a mate recently pinged a 12 gmer and 6 gmer post floods.
5 minutes in and I got a nice broad murmur off to the side of the main gully,45 minutes later my ticker was getting a little excited but alas it was rusty gold .
Later on I snagged a tiddler which put a smile on the dial ,by 10.30 am it was all over , toooooo hot

Re: off & running 2023
Back to a favourite spot today that has been fairly well flogged but for some reason the 5000 was humming and the tiddlers
were singing. Whether it was the heat from the previous days that affected the gold and made it more reactive I DONT KNOW?
All up 1.6 gms for 2 hours of sweat dripping mugginess, the cold beer was nice

Re: off & running 2023
Finally managed to get out after the heat and it rained on me, so dashed back to the car for 20 minutes then back into it.
2 tiddlers today and 2 from another outing, just over a gram
Got home soaked [about 4 km away] and said to the better half "how much rain did we get here? she said what rain ]

Re: off & running 2023
WHY IS IT SO!
2 tiddlers, the top one from a small flat gully in the whipstick,no obvious shallow diggings ,out of the way of of every man and his dog yet
only one piece of gold, I ventured up and down for a couple of hours thinking there's gotta be another one but no ,a single loner.
The small flat piece was on the side of a sloping hill and again it was all I could find.
Some time ago I pinged a nice 2.7 gram piece and that was it a loner nugget
Such is life

Loners
So do the usual and try to work out from whence it came. Being a little pig headed I have worked upwards and down over the next two or three days for zilch. But it's peaceful and camp is right on the spot for refreshments.
Off again soon and it could all happen again.
Good luck out there.

Perseverance akko is the key,and if that doesn't work a cold beverage at the end of the day makes up for it,

Re: off & running 2023
Very little happening here in soggy vic with an expected 40-80mm tomorrow associated with high winds and storms [ it is winter I guess ]
I managed to get out with the new 15"evo a couple of days ago and was very happy with it's performance.
These tiddlers were found at a depth of 4 & 5 inches for a grand total of 0.803gms,gotta be happy with that

Your total keeps ticking over.
Amazing how small the bits are your pinging with the 4500.
No need to waste money on a 6000!

Yeah I do wonder at times but I hear the 6000 is a dream to swing.
When the old bones get tired I'll probably try the 6.

Re: off & running 2023
We still use the 5000's in certain situations and they still work a treat always been a great machines.I have been using the 16" advantage now the open spoke one as its very light. One coil that worked exceedingly well on the 4500/5000 was the 14x7 we used it a lot until it died.I've had 3 x 5000's and 2 x 4500's all very good machines. We use the 6000's now mostly because they are so light and pick up and go.No harness,no cords etc no more sore shoulder. The 11"mono is incredibly light.
Many areas now still have patches of small nuggets not found by the earlier machines.Patch hunting for these is relatively easy with the 6000 and you can find something on most days.0.2g nuggets are considered large when using the 6000 and the common size average is 0.1g.The last 2 patches i found of around 30 nuggets each averages 0.065g in the last 2 weeks. This is with the standard 11"mono.With the new aftermarket coils its even smaller.
This is just some helpful info for you about the 6000.

Re: off & running 2023
A mate of mine has a fear that his 6000 isn't going deep like his 7000 but from all accounts that I hear from others as well as youtube vids that it's near on par?
As with the gpx and z machines anything chunky at depth will give you a murmur ,you've just got to recognise that noise and not mistake it for ground noise.
Good hunting

Re: off & running 2023
If I have to go to a bigger coil on the 6000 i prefer to go to the 5000 with a 12Evo or 14Elite.It will be interesting when the NF xceed 16x10" is released to see how it performs.
These days I think using any of these machines you would not be disadvantaged its more about where and how you look. The total return over time is about the same. However the 6000 will return nearly every day to keep the spirits up.The only detector i no longer use is the SDC.
