nuggetech coils on the 5000
Has any one have comments on these brand of coils on the new 5000?. I am aware of some issues of the coiltech mono ellipticals on the 5000...some say ok others say very noisy....I have yet to find out with these on my mine as last time I was out the standard ML coil was working a treat and so I didnt change and try my old coiltech coils (if it aint broke dont fix it !)
In keeping with others advice I have been using the Minelab round coils that came with the 5000 and are more than happy with them.......whilst in the past I had always used the coiltech on my old 4500...........I have retained these coiltechs ( I have the 14" and 18" elliptical) to try on the 5000 at some stage.
I am looking at getting a smaller coil for pin pointing or cleaning out a patch .........I am considering either the commander 8" or perhaps the Nugetech "Li'l Bewdy elliptical 8.5" x 5".........or a nuggetfinder of similar size
any commnets from those using these on the 5000 would be appreceiated
Thanks

Re: nuggetech coils on the 5000
Gday Bungarra
been using the 18x12 Nugget tech mono and the 15x12 Nugget tech mono on my 5 for the last 3 months,
nice coils and run super smooth on my 5, cant complain here mate.
very good sens and depth.
off out bush end of this month and will also be be trying out the Nugget tech 24x14 mono patchfinder coil.
Pete in WA..
P.S there was some glitches with some faulty supplied coil cable in the past but they told me, "that problem
has been sorted for good", now they run like a bugger and love
the really crappy laterite country over here.

Gday Pete
I have not seen or used any of the Nugget tech coils, but I am always on the lookout and open minded about trying something new, In your opinion how would you rate them as apposed to the Nuggetfinder and Coiltek lightweight type spoked coils, say in the area of contruction and weight, its sounds as though you are happy with the operational side of it.
Some of our ground here in WA as you said, can be a bit trying at times so you dont need to be using any coils that are of dubious construction, and of course as the price of coils go up we all want them to give us at least a few seasons of trouble free operation before having to replace them.
I dont care what they say in the shop, its easy to claim this and that, but the true test is on the ground over a period of time to really see what they are like.
Thanks in advance
cheers

Gday Stayyer
I would say the build quality is exceptional, the shaft mount is very tough and the tollerances of
the Skid plate fit are up to the same as the Minelab Commander standards, slightly thicker plastics
than the coiltek goldstalkers which only adds a very tiny bit of extra weight but gives the coil
unbeatable strength and durability.
Ive wacked mine about a fare bit and it took it on the chin with no harm, i would say that my 18x12
has a lot less touch sens than the coiltek lightweights too,its nearly non existant.
Im heading back out bush this weekend early sunday morning for a week now its dried out a bit and
im gonna be swinging one of their 24x14 mono's also, i had quick a bang with one of those a few months
ago and was very impressed..
I see many westies are finally heading out now its dry, good luck out there
guys n gals and have a ball on the slugs..
