Hey Marty

Im using the 18x12 eliptical and seams to be the coil i find on the end of my detector the most. I am happy with it but have not used NF coils so can not compare. I do have a 14in round coiltec and have found the the nugget tec to be more sensitive to small shallow targets and much easyier to pin point, this may be because it is eliptical though.

i am sure Pete from WA will add to this as he runs them.

Hi Inhere,

I think that is a video made earlier in the year where Nugget Tech had gotten a batch of bad
cables one of which was on the coil being tested here.
From what I hear they have improved hugely.
I think beepinpete is able to provide current information.

G'day Flak, i'm afraid they would have to pass the same test's
before I would buy one.
The gap between the bolt holes was also oversize.
With the way the present coils work, why take a chance?
For my money, it's up to the coil maker to convince the costumers with results
not just excuses. Wink

Wouldn't argue with that Inhere.

I have heard that the coils are said to have improved
I think they should be tested that being said,
and if it were a faulty cable issue
that would be considered a 'reason' not an 'excuse' to my way of thinking.

I'll be interested to hear from someone who has one
to learn more...

All the best,

Nugget tech coils Empty Re nuggetech coils

Post  evan2010 Wed Sep 28, 2011 5:05 pm

Gday, ive been using a nuggetech 15x12.5" Quenda elliptical this year up Sandstone way and ive found it to be an excellent coil. Its very sensitive to and maintains a great stable ground balance without any touch sensitivity issues. It also payed for itself by the way of an 11g piece the day after it arrived here in the post. Nope, maybe the cables were crook but there were 3 different coils tested by those people in vic.
As I have already written, I would wan't to see proof that they work better.

I don't want to deter anyone else from buying but until I see something I will be keeping my money in my pocket.

fair enough mate. we need to be careful with our hard earned, Very Happy also a lot harder to convince the misiss you need an 8th coil rater than a second one. (I have the same problem with fishing rods, she dont seem to understand they all have there own special purpose)

got to agree with Nero though, could have called their company something else as im easily confused Rolling Eyes

I have a 18x12 Nugget Tech, I have not found any gold with it as of yet, it also had an issue with it's cable and had it replaced on warranty, i can't comment on weather this coil is a good coil of not.
It seems to be ok, though to tell the truth if i were to buy another coil again i would probably go with a big commander coil.

The nugget tech coil covers seem to be well built and they are using higher end audio cable now, though the plug that connects to your computer is a little "Rustic" sort of looking, basically soldiered into the connector, a few layers of heat shrink and shes done.

I think over time the coils will become better and better, Though because i have not found gold with it i have lost a lot of faith with the coil and do not use it very much. If the ground looks good i use my 11" mono commander straight up.

The biggest reason i lost faith with the coil was because i was on good ground spent a good day with the coil found nothing with it, swapped over to my 11" and within an the hour i was finding gold.
Now that's just probably coincidence but because of this my faith in the coil is shaky at best.

rarebreed, the the minelab 11" mono is a great coil but a 17x11 nugget finder
will get the same nuggets, as well as get down a bit deeper.

This is why we need more feedback on the nugget tech's. Wink

I think i will stick with nugget finder coils as it sounds like the quality might not be there with the nugget tech.

Well so far my experience with Nugget Tech has not been the greatest, considering the coil was faulty straight out of the bag, it was explained to me that they had a bad batch of cable.
I'm going bush in October so we will see how it goes. ill post results of what i find once all is said and done.

Nugget tech coils Empty Nugget Tech Coil

Hi All,

The coil that Rarebreed owned (Nugget Tech 18"Eliptical) has passed hands to me. The cable was replaced. I have used it with some success with my GPX 5000. Picked up an ounce patch, just over 50 nuggets found, with sizes ranging from .1 gram to 4 grams. Nothing at depth all shallow stuff. The deepest was around 100mm deep. The ground was bloody noisy and I ended up running in enhanced mode during the day. Went out one night and picked up the few that I had missed during the day.
I have used Rarebreeds Nugget Finder 17" eliptical for the past 2 weeks and picked up 1.5 ounces. The NF is a bit lighter to swing, but I reckon they are pretty comparable in sensitivity. I would have no hesitation in recommending the 18" Nugget Tech Eliptical mono coil. Its well built, pin points easily and is every bit as sensitive as the NF coil.

Cheers
Steve

Well made monos from any manufacturer have very little difference in their performance. Coil fans are a bit like the old Ford versus Holden fans and become one eyed to the point where nothing is as good as their favourite make.

Cheers, Jim
