Tentative for pitching the tent on an unpowered site...
Nature_Pete wrote:Hi Guys,
Firstly I have to congratulate everyone involved with this weekend on such a great idea and such great efforts. It sounds like it could become a wonderful, ongoing part of the forum and shows just how much the members of this forum can achieve as a team.
Secondly, I have to let you guys know that Ange and I cannot attend . Other commitments have thwarted our efforts to be there and we are truly sorry that we can’t be a part of it . Hopefully it will be an ongoing event and we will be able to attend the next one (come hell or high water!). We wish to you all a fine weekend, full of gold and good times. Good luck to all and a big pat on the back for such a great effort.
Nature Pete and Ange.
Hi mariner3800 and fellow forumites!
It appears that things have not gone to plan for the previous plans we had made for the long week end
It will be able to be confirmed by Thursday for sure if we can get up there to meet you all, we'll keep you posted.
Fingers crossed we can come along .............

Hi Tim,
Test pit Saturday morning for an hour, after that we will head out to wherever, It will depend on where people wish to go, we have a couple of spots marked out for those who wish to tag along, but please remember that this is a get together weekend so where you go will be up to you and the people you meet and wish to detect with. This is not an organised tour weekend or club type event, it must be treated like was intended and that is a chance to put faces to names and build relationships and share knowledge with each other. There are some great guys coming along and I would strongly suggest that the nights at the park will be the best time to make plans for the next day.
If the majority of attendees wish to do the same thing then that is great, but I will let the group decide this day by day.
See you then

Mariner3800, Peter,
You're doing a champion job of organising the unofficial forum get-together at Laanecoorie, Queen's birthday weekend. Thank you so much for all your work so far.

Hi GoldstalkerGPX,
It's about 1.5 km from the park,
Directions are
Head out of the park to the T intersection, turn right.
Head down the road to the Tarangulla /Laanacoorie Rd and turn left.
Drive 500 m and it is on the right opposite the mud brick house.
This spot is well documented on YouTube with a few good videos
Do you know this spot?.

Ahem... If you blokes think you can identify a spot for the QB weekend so us newbies will jump on the spot with our neanderthal machines and clean out the trash for you before you get there, you are wrong. Nice try.

Be a bit careful getting wood cranky. You need a permit from the bloody Dept of Sparks and Embers (DSE) to collect it. Jimmy can probably help

Hi To All,
Just wanted to wish you all a great time this weekend on the hunt!
Looks like it should be OK weather apart from a little cool air!
Well done to Peter and the organisers and also to Jim at the caravan park for getting this gathering up and running.
I sure would love to be there too. Maybe next time if you do it again but for now I hope all get over a piece.
I have made contact with SCOSA and they are extremely thankfull for the support you are all going to give them and I will certainly give you all a big mention to their events manager.
I look forward to seeing (the nuggets and targets found) and hearing how you all went and we hope whoever wins the prizes donated by us and others enjoy them greatly! Of course, I hope all enjoy the chance to spend time with others who enjoy the thrill of the hunt! I am sure there will be some great advice given to any who require it as there are many good operators attending...
Take care all!

G,Day All.
Keeping my options open for the weekend, hoping to be in the area with luck.
If I can't make it, I wish everyone attending a great and profitable time, even meeting new friends can be just as rewarding as a Wee Nugget or Two.
regards Cranky (The original one)
P.S. TheHOward, would you make youself readily identifiable I may be wearing new boots.
