Laanecoorie Weekend

Had a great weekend in Laanecoorie catching up with others forum members.
It was great to meet some new faces and detecting together was fun.
Special thanks goes to Phoenix who was our detecting guide.
My first trip to Tarnagulla ever will be memorable one -not for a gold but to see a part of Australian history (empty cans of diggers in depression time trying their luck on golfdfields :

I have never seen a detecting spot with so much rubbish.Well after putting up with rubbish little bit of yellow:

Following day i went with Phoenix for a detecting day around Dunolly:

While detecting come across this lovely creature:

He/She was not scared and got a couple of pats on the back.
Going home i went for a walk in Laanecoorie and come across this lovely fella:

Did not try to pat him on the back as he was angry and showed me his blue tonque.

Was great weekend.

Yer it was great to catch up with you Guys & Gals over the weekend. If any time you chaps are up this way again give me a yell and we might make a day of it. I would also like to thank Phoenix for being our site trip organizer, well done mate. And Golden for his report and photo's, thanks mate. I personally would like to see this happening as an annual event, as it gives us a chance to meet fellow members, not only on the net but in person. It also gives the new comers to this hobby a chance to learn the tricks of the trade from us older blokes.

I think it was a great idea to make it an annual event and maybe on one quiet weekend as well.Easier for accommodation etc.
Phoenix was outstanding and tips and knowledge he was showing us newer members were greatly appreciated.
I am sure we will take Wombat offer and try to learn from you guys.

Stoopsy i haven't seen a black dog but you missed the Playboy story.That was hilarious.

Forgot to add our hopes were extraordinarily high helping Wombat to dig quite deep hole but maybe next time result will be much better.
Until then Keep digging.

hey golden. glad to see you got that second bit... and i hear you about digging wombats hole .... only to get the top of a can it was bloody hard work.... funny thing was , when i was half way down it was only then did wombat offer me to use the big pick....crikey wombat thanks and as for daves playboy story .... well ... hope to catch up again .... cheers

Hi Golden, happy to hear everyone had a good weekend. We didn't leave home until 3.30 sunday afternoon and arrived at Waanyarra about 6pm. After a quick set up at camp we came over to Laanecoorie to see who was there. Found out which cabin you were staying in but couldn't find you. Would like to catch up one day for a detect and chat. I didn't find any gold this trip but still had a good time camping for a couple of days. Cheers Grumpy.

Sorry Guys I forgot to "Thank You" in the BIG DIG Exercise. I was sure that we were onto something big, Very hard ground and well bellow the old main digging hole depth, and we could not believe what we found after at least 3/4 hrs digging an aluminium top of an old beer can dating back to early 1960-70's. How it got there who know's???. But thanks again Flyspecks & Golden I could not have done all that digging with out you both. Flyspeck all you had to do is ask for the big pick mate.

Thanks dave for the image shack link.... finally i can post pics. ... and as for wombats hole .... its a campfire storie for sure... coles, if your reading this , there is a jackaroo single burner stove at kmart this week for 15.00 bucks , hope this helps...... still havent herd from bowy and matt on there score yet........... cheers

It was good to catch up with few members on sunday and put some faces to names.
Maybe we could catch up more often, even just for a day.
I am happy to catch up with people in the talbot area.

Never been there so should be interesting .
