Hi All,
Well with only a couple of days to go I thought I would post the last bit of info and wish everyone a safe trip up and look forward to meeting you all.
As it stands tonight we have 24 confirmed forum members plus their friends and family's attending, most up for the whole weekend and a few coming in for a day or two.
Hopefully all the raffle prizes have arrived and are in Jim's safe hands ready for the Sunday night draw.
I have printed a heap of maps of the local areas which will be available.
Still looking for a couple of people to put their hands up and help out with an hour or two of tuition on Saturday morning, so if you are interested please let me know on Friday night.
Looks like we will have to pack the thermals as the temp is going to drop near zero of a night so throw in that extra blanket.
If you have any questions please PM or post to me and I will get back to you up until late Thursday night.
Look forward to seeing you all

Well with only 2 working weeks to go before we head off to Laanecoorie I thought I would start and post the info that I have and a very loose agenda for the 4 days. ( Please see Below ).
Firstly I would like to thank Jim & Robyn from the Park who are putting on Pre Dinner Nibbles on Saturday night. ( See full Info Below ). This is open to everyone who are staying in the park and also to all Forum members that are staying else where or just coming up for Saturday. This is a wonderful thing that Robyn & Jim are doing so please thank them for their hospitality when you see them.
I would like to announce that Gold Prospecting Australia " GPA " have come on board with some lovely donations including a couple of gift vouchers for training days at Bendigo ( Tag Along ). Again GPA are proud to be sponsoring that raffle and are very happy that all the money raise will be going to the SOCSA Charity.
I would also like to thank GoldstalkerGPX who is also donating Gold Field Maps and a Hand Held Pin Pointer to the raffle. GoldstalkerGPX is also very proud to be supporting the SOCSA charity so please pass on your thanks when you catch up with him on the weekend.
I have received conformation from a few more members that they have booked their accommodation, so if you have not let me know as yet if you are coming up for a day, or 2 or the whole weekend please do so. This will help Jim & Robyn cater for the Saturday night pre dinner Nibble.

What would be the best day/days and time for newby daytrippers to join you so we could go out with folk who know what they're doing? Not expecting an answer from you on this yet till you know more about who is coming etc. But if you could sometime later on let us know, it would be appreciated.

Hi Marigold,
Good question and keep them coming.
At this stage I was thinking Saturday would be the best day for any type of training session as it will then give you the rest of the weekend to try your luck on your own or match up with some other people if that's your thing??
As you say, I will post more info as the numbers come in and we can see how many people we have attending
Marigold, what type of detector set up do you have ( just so we can supply the right info )??
Peter

GPX-4000 running on factory presets with 14"x9" mono. Only been out five days with it as of today. I'm brand new, clueless (top-heavy on research and short on fieldwork), and looking for help. So far I've been helping clean up trash areas for you experienced folks - shotgun pellets, tiny bullets and locating 30" deep utility mains with metal markers in bushland is my forte so far...mariner3800 wrote: Marigold, what type of detector set up do you have ( just so we can supply the right info )?? Re: Laanecoorie Weekend June 10 - 13 Final Post & Info Update 8/6/2011
Hi Tim,
I don't think we will have much organised for Friday as most people are traveling in that day. Friday night we will proberbly meet up after dinner and plan the weekend to suit the needs of the majority.
I won't be arriving until about Lunch time on Friday, as I like to let the traffic die down before I leave Melbourne.
One week before the weekend I will post a bit of an agenda so people will know where / what we are up to
I see the wekend as a meet and greet as well as some of the more experienced people helping out the newbees, nothing to formal and enjpy a few laughs. Some people might think this a bit strage, but I think our forum members will see where I'm coming from. The more people become involved in prospecting the bigger the voice we will have in the future
Are you staying at the park or out in the bush??
Regards
Peter

HI All,
Just an update, we have another to forum members who have said they will be coming, so this puts us up around the 15-18 in numbers.
Can you start throwing me some ideas on topics that people would like Jim to talk on, just so I can give him a bit of an idea?
Just keep in mind to book early or you might miss out on a cabin or powered site. There are always plenty of unpowered site available.

A bit of incentive to be there
I contacted Trevor at Coiltek as follows:
Hi Trevor,
Over the Queen’s Birthday weekend (10-13 June) approximately 25 members of the Gold Detecting and Prospecting forum (https://golddetecting.forumotion.net/)will be staying at or close to the Laanecoorie Lakeside Park owned by Jimmy Stewart.
It will be an informal weekend with the park as a meeting/eating place with a talk to be given by Jimmy. Quite a few “newbies” will be in the mix so some of the more experienced operators will be doing some teaching.
As a possible incentive to attract more members, I wonder if you might consider donating a new “Blitz” coil to be raffled on the Saturday night. Maybe $5.00 a ticket and the proceeds could go to a charity of your choice.
If you agreed to my idea then perhaps the coil could be sent to Jimmy for safekeeping in the interim.
Best regards,
Robert
And his reply
Hi Robert,
Thanks for your contact.
I have seen this thread on the forum and was thinking the same.
We would be happy to Donate a 14x9” GOLDSTALKER BLITZ coil. For our internal reference, can you outline your intentions for the weekend as we keep records of all donations and their purpose. I will also ensure you get a bunch of hats and a few other goodies to help you with your raffle.
We support many children’s charities, the big one being SCOSA. It would be a fantastic gesture to mention that all monies raised from the raffles for the COILTEK equipment is being donated to SCOSA. As you can understand , we need to ensure that all monies is kept with yourself or someone trusted to collect and remit the monies either directly to SCOSA or remitted to us knowing that we will immediately send the donation to them. I will be able to contact them to inform them of this effort and hope that we can mention on the forums and our website of this great cause.
I do like you initiative for this and hope to discuss more with you soon.
Well done.

Hi Goldnomad,
You have just blown me out of my boots and I have a smile from ear to ear
How good are you and how good is Trevor From Coiltek with a huge donation of the 14x9” GOLDSTALKER BLITZ coil and other items. What has really blown me away is they request that that all money raised go to such a wonderful charity as SCOSA.
I think COILTEK have just become the number one ticket holder for the weekend, well done Trevor & COILTEK.
If you cam PM me your contact phone number i will give you a bell tonight and work out the finer details.
So for all the Forum members attending the Laanecoorie Queens Birthday Weekend , you are all in for a great time.
Keep an eye out for more posts soon

As promised, please find more information the Forum Get Together.
I have just spoken with Jim at the Laanecoorie Lakeside Park and he informs me that it is a pretty busy weekend in the Park, so if you require a powered site or cabin accommodation please book now as I would hate to see anyone miss out. For those taking kids up, Jim informs me that there is going to be billy cart races and heaps of things for the kids to do.

Jim Also has confirmed that he will entertain us one night, topic TBA so if you would like to hear Jim talk on something specific please let me know and I will put a bit of a list together for Jim.
As this is not a " Club Run Event " or " Formalised Gathering " it is up to each individual to organise their own catering and look after themselves.
Most camp site have fire places so pack the camp oven or hot plate and don't forget to collect a bit of wood when you are out in the bush, but only from the designated areas.
So, if you are coming up for a day or the weekend can you please respond to this topic ( even if you have already just so I confirm the numbers
Looking forward to great weekend, catch up with forum members, exchange ideas and find some Gold.
See you all at Laanecoorie

Hi Peter, I can not stay the whole weekend but I'd love to visit on Sunday to meet some forum members that for now only know by name.
Please let me know if this is possible.

Hi Goldquest,
No Problem at all, it will be great to meet up. Over this weekend I will post a simple program for the weekend, so please keep an eye out for it.
Hi Goldstalker GPX,
Mate where has this gone in such a short amount of time, look forward to catching up on the weekend and your donation of goods I'm sure will raise further money for such a worthy charity.
Till the weekend, may each swing bring you joy.

Hi All,
Just an update on the Forum Get Together At Laanecoorie on the Queens birthday long weekend in June.
As it stands at the moment I have received 18 confirmed members and their families so far.
Goldstalker GPX has donated so items for the raffel so please don't forget to thank him when you meet up.
I will have bit of a program out soon ( still trying to keep it informal ) just so that you can plan your weekend.
Cabins are filling fast so if you have not booked yet I suggest you do it quick ( Laanecoorie ParK 03 5435 7303 )
Talk Soon

Hi Guys,
Firstly I have to congratulate everyone involved with this weekend on such a great idea and such great efforts. It sounds like it could become a wonderful, ongoing part of the forum and shows just how much the members of this forum can achieve as a team.
Secondly, I have to let you guys know that Ange and I cannot attend . Other commitments have thwarted our efforts to be there and we are truly sorry that we can’t be a part of it . Hopefully it will be an ongoing event and we will be able to attend the next one (come hell or high water!). We wish to you all a fine weekend, full of gold and good times. Good luck to all and a big pat on the back for such a great effort.
Nature Pete and Ange.

Greetings foaks! would love to come to lannecoorie on long weekend, only a good spit from home, Maiden Gully, Bendigo, but sadly (or happily!) I shall be in Thailand. Try as I may can find no info on detecting in Thailand, so shall have to be content with looking for tigers! Although an old chinese proverb comes to mind, 'before one goes looking for tigers, be very very sure you want to find one!' Have a good week-end foaks and trust this may be an annual event!
