Drive along Hill and Dale RD and turn at Laane trk or seekers trk on your right.
2 Miners Lease and 2 Miner Right Claims just never know they just might of left a few bits about.

Hi Eureka,
Most of the roads around there are Ok for 2WD cars so you will be Ok.
If you are running late, we will be leaving directions for Saturday at the office.
The other days are pretty much up to you as to where and when you go, I strongly suggest that you come along at 5:30 pm on Sat night for the nibbles and drinks so that you can meet the other Forum members and plan the next few days
Look forward to meeting you soon

Thanks Peter, Robert and others for organising what should be a very enjoyable weekend. Thanks also Detrack for your informative maps and to Coiltek Manufacturing for their sponsorship. Also a big thankyou for Jim and Robyne at the Laancoorie Caravan Park for their assistance.
Sorry I cant be there, but the other ones I have organised have been great just to enjoy the comaraderie of like minded guys, swap yarns and experience, and we all learn something. Due to what was learnt, some of those attended found gold for the first time over the same weekend.
I'll drink to your success in Rutherglen, tasting some of those reds with the family. At least I wont be the designated driver.
Good Luck
Jeff

Alittle more that might help you all out on that weekend Good luck and enjoy
This sort of Info is what fires me up to get out.
I know as well as many long time Prospectors what it is like once you just start this great rewarding hobby that we have not knowing were do I look or what do I look for.
They buy the Detector, map read books get out to a few spot with no luck and they say what am I doing wrong. Even long time Prospectors to date still have trouble today were do I go next and say is there any place left for me to get anymore gold.
The best advise that I can give to any new comers never give up if you have the passion then the gold will come just keep driving to learn more while your at home and walk the fields and read the ground.
You all have the very best in Tech Detectors today and any old long timer prospector will tell you, I wish I had this Detector 10-15 years back.
There is so many areas out there and it just how you look at them each time I go out it's my maps I look at first and then I look at all the Geofeatures that are with in it. Reefs are first gullies leading down and away from those reefs and then shallow ground and intrapment of the gold as it breaks down into these areas and gullies, Shallow Ground and Shallow leads are my targets as to were the gold will rest, here on this map you will see the reef lines north and south and you can see the shallow ground in the gullies(Purple) and the shallow leads(Pink) that run down from these reefs and I have marked out that working the ends of these lead and a good 50mtrs ever side is what I do.
Look how the Almeida reef at the southern end there is two gullies leading away from it and I have marked out from 1 to 4 of area to look and it is this that gets you fired up each time before I get out, then its just a matter of putting the time in there and work the area well and just hope the rewards are they.
I am sure anyone that looks at this map would be kean to get out there and would agree and say, Bugger if I am waiting two weeks to get out there I am off, and that is the passion that make you never want to give in.
I have no Idear if there is going to be gold at any of these spots but there is one way to find out.
Almieda Reef (SOUTHERN EXTENSION OF THE ALMEIDA REEF)
GDA-94 Zone E-749462.7 N-5918588.6
Horseshoe Reef

Black Gold Reef (COMPRISES TWO MASSIVE REEFS.)

Lets see how many gold Fever Propectors get there before you have your camp out, will have to do some spot checks on the site.
Just have to post some more likely spots for you all

Hi Detrackozi,
Thank for the great info, I'II have a go at setting this up in my spare time?? Soon??
Really appreciate the info.
Hey GoldstalkerGPX, Mate if you can come up with some maps and locations for the weekend that would be fantastic. I do have an A3 colour printer available to me, so I can run off a heap of copies prior to the weekend and bring them along if you like. Just PM me anything you would like printed and I will get it done.

Hi Eureka,
No problem, our fist stop for those who wish to tag along for the day will be the test pit. Just to let everyone have a quick set up, test and play.
I will tag the exact location on Wednesday final post, and will leave directions at the park
Look forward to seeing you then
Peter

Hi Golden
Great to have you on board and look forward to meeting you.
First rule , don't stress to much about anything and enjoy yourself, that is the main theme of the weekend.
I would suggest a good pair of boots, I personally use Red Backs, I have had the runner style hiking boots and found then to soft, I have also had Blunstones but found the soles lacking tread, again this is my opinion.
I use head phones most of the time so I use a peaked hat, but during the summer I use a broad brim hat.
Long pants and long sleeved shirt for me are the go, this offers the best protection. It is really cool in the mornings up there at the moment so a thermal jacket or coat is also the go. If it's raining, well then you are going to need a good bottle of red wine and a book
Get yourself a small plastic hand scoop, Bunnings sell then for $5, your detector, pick, and a old film container to put all your gold into.
You will need your own food and thermos for a hot cuppa, I always take some water with me to wash off the dirt before lunch and at the end of the day.
One last thing to bring is a sense of humor, if you take this passion to seriously you will end up going mad, divorced and broke ( many can testify to this )
Look forward to catching up
Mariner3800
Peter
PS did you manage to book some accommodation?.

Re: Laanecoorie Weekend June 10 - 13 Final Post & Info Update 8/6/2011
Thanks Peter.
Now i have an idea what to bring and what to wear. Unfortunately all accommodation has been snapped fast in Caravan Park. When i called only 4 bedroom house was left.
Will look into plan B which is to book in Dunolly or Maryborough for Saturday and Sunday or in worst case scenario drive for the day on Saturday morning.
Will probably hire detector -they do not open before 9.00am, which means will get there little bit later.I have already emailed guys to book a one day tour and waiting for their reply.I have read only positive comments on this forum about them so it should be great experience.
Will come prepared well -thanks for your advise.

Hay golden, don't give up on that 4bdrm house if you can see yourself having your own bedroom and sharing the living areas with others. If you put out a call for people to share, you might get the best budget accommodation there. Just an idea.

Re: Laanecoorie Weekend June 10 - 13 Final Post & Info Update 8/6/2011
Hi Marygold,
Well it look like it will be quite hard to get accommodation, so i have no problem to share 4 bedroom house.
(just to get an idea -in my army days it was 136 of us in one quite large bedroom on bunks bed:) so 4 bedroom house is heaven.
If there are more interested members and i am sure it will be few who would end up having similar problem like me
Lets get and book the house together.I think we have to be quick to book the house.
I can stay saturday and sunday but can come friday arvo too.
So anyone interested we better be quick.
If there are any other places (accommodation) you guys recommend please post it here. Most probably Dunolly-Maryborough?
Thanks
