Merry Christmas all,
Hi, K2
I just remember reading a post about? May have been some beech in QLD some detectorist was digging up some sort of xmas puddings every year, they were in some sort of metal tin.
You could plant a few with out the metal container & plant a few three pence coins for the Christmas show.
Thats if Madfish doesn`t follow you whilst your planting them.
DINGO

Re: Contestants Wanted
Hey guys,
i had a stroke of genius this morning!
an idea for a brilliant "utube show" Here is how it works:
You pay for the detecting trip and look for gold, while i follow you with a camcoder.
I will tape you dig the gold, which you will then hand over to me.
If at the end of the month i am happy with the amount of gold you gave me i might allow you to continue.
If i am not happy with how much gold you deliver i will replace you with another idiot.
The plan is to have 30 suckers detecting full time and giving me the gold.
The show will air on utubes, once i figure out how to upload a video.
Any takers?

That is a Genius Idea Rtanweb but too similar to K2's original plan.

Re: Contestants Wanted
AW ... come on ... ya gotta give them some gold, how about they can keep the biggest nugget? as you or the people running the contest have the potential to make a motsa. This is not knowing what the "prize" for winning will be and hopefully the contestants would try harder.
Cheers

Re: Contestants Wanted
Tell me more!!!!
Any actual info / applications / rules / prizes / UPDATES?
I just first read/know about this TODAY!
If it is for the new year of 2012, I MIGHT be interested (ie: if we find gold, I expect we can keep it!), also because I've already taken all my AL for the current year.....
Entry fees? Flights, permits, insurance?
Exit fees? Trip back home when ya get booted off?

Re: Contestants Wanted
Hey Coles555,try to interpret the title carefully. Here I'll even simplify it for you "Con-test-ants wanted",clearly its referring to "Clowns".
This whole shenanigan, sounds like one big joke to me.

Re: Contestants Wanted
That sounds awsome. Just filling the chopper with 300 kilos of buckshot to air drop over a few square kilometers. Now that would make it interesting....

What an interesting read to finish the day
To make things more interesting- use detectors without coils. You can keep all finds.
Keep digging.

Re: Contestants Wanted
There's reality shows out there with less of an idea than this one. Look at all the home reno shows, plus things like survivor and race around the world, not to mention boring as bat-**** (to me but ratings do not lie) cooking shows like iron chef and master chef! Would be fun to do & potentially fun to watch depending on editing and twists and if you could throw in plenty of eye candy (both sorts). The downside is that you would have a whole bunch of inspired new swingers out there competing for the same diminishing resource. The only ones that would benefit from this are makers and sellers of outdoor gear and metal detectors. But it has potential as a show: "Gold Rush 2012" But why stop at detectors -- panning and sluicing should be included too! In fact you could recreate an 1850s gold rush scene and change the technology each week! Or keep it the same (such as Frontier House) and the aussie version of the same. That would be a challenge. But the bottom line: do we need the publicity -- probably not!!
