AT Max with Detech coil.

Attached the new Detech 18"x 4" DD coil to the AT Max and took it for it's first beach hunt/test.
This section of beach is mainly used to get from street parking to beach/water area, so free to search in peace.
With a sweep area of 18" this coil proved to be just the right size for an area like this.
Depth and sensitivity is excellent, but I do prefer coins that are close to the surface.
The combination is a little chatty on the wet beach, but then again I did have it on near full sensitivity.  

I often wondered how the Max would go over a wet salt beach. Thought it would be noisy.
Seems that the narrow but wide search coil is a good idea.
Maybe the Gold Monster would be ok with a similar coil on the beach??

If it can't do it with existing coils then it will not do it with a Detech coil.
Need to be able to lower the GB of the detector to near 0.
The reason why Fisher said the Gold Bug Pro had some clever software.

Yes I do like my Gold Bug DP at the beach, nice detector in ground bal vlf mode for those small gold chains etc
