Went for a drive last weekend for a day out up the valley. We headed up Copeland to check out the gold mines of the area such as mountain maid and some others but mountain maid was closed but thanx to a member on here who gave me a program of all the different mines in NSW i was able to use my GPS and Google Earth to locate a few others.
I also had a quick look at a creek that has a few mines at the top and it looks promising, even got to try out the sluice for water flow and power. Cant wait to get back there as it looks very promising and totally out of the way and even has a place to camp right next to the creek.

Sounds like a top spot. And it looks like you have a 'bit of colour' there too. Very Happy Bet it was cold around there as well.

Mr-comfy one of the reasons that I post the Google historical-gold-mines-in-google-earth is to enable people like your self to get to Known gold spots with out heaps of research to find them.

Hi Mr-Comfy,

How did the Angus Mackirk work out for you? I've done a few trips up to Barrington (Barwon State etc) with no luck as of yet!

a conservation area in NSW is now off limits to everyone. Suprised they haven't locked the gates up there yet. The bonus is that one day soon NSW - Newcastle Sydney Woolongong greenies and those never over the mountains, will experience what happens when locked up land goes off. Not being cynical but fuel loads as they are a major fire is comming, not dought assisted but by land locked conservation areas along the way. By the way this is toung in cheek but seriosley. I recall the fire that went from Junee to the coast moons ago
