4000 V`s 4500
Gday All,
I have been flogging some paddocks of late with my 4000 and picked up some nice gold. I normally run an 18 inch coil and have got great depth on nuggets, but I need to go deeper.
Will the 4500 give me more depth with this set up and get me the gold that my 4000 isnt picking up?
Or will I just get more small gold like others are finding with the 5000?
I will be running a 24 inch coil in the new year.

I suspect your running your 4000 on NORMAL timing? If thats the case there is no benefit switching to the next models as they are the same.
The main reason I got a 4500 was ENHANCED, but thats not for depth (even thou it does go deeper then SENSITIVE SMOOTH on a 4000), its more to work areas that are to noisy for NORMAL with a Mono coil.

the 4s and the the 45s go the same depth it's just the 45s have been broken down with in the settings so you can run them that little bit smoother.

Hey T G C & Stoppsy,
I always run in sensitive as I did a few tests with un-dug targets and my 4000 seemed to give a better responce in sensitive. It does pick up more ground noise and I end up digging more of them till the sound breaks up,but I can deal with that. ATM 1 out of 20 ground noises turns out to be deep gold.
I might just stick with the 4000 for a while yet and go the bigger coil. Most of the patches now are quiet because ive dug out all the trash,so Im looking for the faint, deep sounds in virgin ground, that bring a smile to all our faces

This chart might help you decide which settings go deepest depending on your soil type.

Sharp timing will go the deepest but at the expense of noise.
