HARGRAVES Area N.S.W.

Does anyone know if you are allowed to camp at Hargraves. Heard it maybe allowed in schoolground but not sure.

I've seen people camp in the park just as you go over the bridge on the hill end rd, that was a while back now, whats the worst that can happen.......someone tells you to move.

It was when we were last through there, get onto "Nuggets from Down Under" at Mudgee they may well have some info.

I can recommend the caravan park there, and average prices.
The young couple who run it are nice also.
The area past the bridge is I believe the oldtimers commons area. (Full of junk targets- i thought it would be a good area for a VLF, but its probablty been done to death.) I looked at it and decided to go the van park.
I would encourage you to go the van park as areas like that are dying and need the support also.
As for permission to get onto private land, all the privates responded with the same answer of " too many people done the wrong thing" so the answer was no.

As Dave said above, check with Mudgee Minelab shop, they may be able to help you with somewhere to get on.
I heard of the occaisional bit of colour still being panned there, but havent heard much about any nuggets.

Gday G R,
You can camp at the cricket oval next to the school.There are flush toilets there but most people leave a donation at the local shop(they have a tin there on the counter). There is still plenty of gold in the diggings next to Louisia creek behind the Rubbish Tip,but the amount of junk targets may send you crazy.
The Mozzies are full on ATM and will hassell you all day long so dont forget the Bushmans.
