Somedays sluice
Don't laugh to loud it's still a work in progress, just waiting on fittings to flush the spray bars and punch plate for the last section!
So much was cut out, Oh well you get that!

Re: Somedays sluice
Needs some nice wheels and we could start a new sport "Sluice Box Racing" Almost done, figured I better pull the pump apart, hasn't been done in ages, good thing I did corrosion every where! 5'6" is the length, so with the hoppers skid plate brings it to 7 feet of workable surface.
And yes I know clean up will be a B with the riffles bolted down, still simple to remove them!

310mm wide hmmmm yep i would start with 2.5 and go up from there if need be but i would not go any bigger than 3.5 mm. but than that depends on how far your pumping? cheers

Re: Somedays sluice
Now you need the back wheels Pete, nice and compact! My jets are 2 mm the cross bar has also been drilled at 1/2 inch spacing's Thats why I said I hope the pump has enough Gusto
to allow a third set of holes, It needs it to get some water action. There's no comparison to the water flow from a river sluice, a big learning curve about to be unfolded for me!
And you gotta remember this is trying to retrieve something from a disaster! The last part which is now the main part was only there to stop any loss while I adjusted the first part!I wanted to stick 4 x2 inch pipes coming out of the hopper on each side! better keep to the game plan? Another pic. How about 10 mm holes

Chris mate your unit looks very good indeed. Good thinking with the jets it should work,if not take them up one size. There should be no problems with your pump either. cheers

Re: Somedays sluice
Is that ribbed mat at the head of the riffles?
Can you rake oversize out the rear of the top hopper with your shovel?
If yes to the above.
*Lose the first 3 riffles and the matting below. Leave it slick up to the start of the 4th riffle. (seal you mat with this riffle)
*You will need a minimum 2.3hp 1 ½” pump with a wide box.
*Minimum 40mm hose.
*Recommend 2mm jets to help with volume.
Great job on your sluice, you will do well with it.

Re: Somedays sluice
You have to remember this hopper was designed for the flow of a river "No water is allowed to escape or enter through other orifice's"

Re: Somedays sluice
Mate the end caps on the jetting pipes, see if you can fit screw caps on them instead. if your jets start blocking you only need to unscrew them and push a bottle brush up the pipe to clean the jets it works and is very fast. cheers

Re: Somedays sluice
The 1 1/2" lay flat with the pump at idle is rock hard, thats 20 meters. Its going to be a big learning curve for me, Honestly I think everyone's just following the other, without questioning what there trying to achieve? Not enough water flow to create havoc that's for sure!
