Minelab warranty transfer
It looks like Minelab have been listening to detectorists concerns, and I believe this is an excellent step on their part. From my perspective they have always looked after their detectors even after ownership was changed, but this is a very positive approach which will be welcomed by any new detector purchaser. Yes this is only bring them in line with some state LAWS, a place they should have been quite a few years ago.
I tried the same approach with a non prospecting related product and was challenged in a court of law and lost.
I think they may have been challenged in the legal system somewhere. Mariner

Re: Minelab warranty transfer
Hi Peter,
Great news indeed and long overdue in many peoples opinion.
And one less thing for Doug to be able to complain about !!
Cheers,
Rick

Re: Minelab warranty transfer
This is good for new buyers. Will surely help support the dealers in their sale of 5000s. Although if you bought a new 5000 two weeks ago you might be having a quiet or not so quiet spew about it. I was talking to minelab earlier this week and said how unreasonable their current policy was. They hinted it was going to change soon but gave no date.

Re: Minelab warranty transfer
So i buys me a 5000 and trade it to a dealer 1 yr latter, yet the detector still has 2 yrs remaining warranty.
Question?
Is the dealer able to forward the remaining warranty onto the new owner once traded?

Re: Minelab warranty transfer
You would hope so as the remaining 2 years is no use to the dealer.

Re: Minelab warranty transfer
Obviously its now onto its third owner, but was just wondering if the dealer is a silent owner in a sense, making it in reality on its second owner.?
Re: Minelab warranty transfer
good on you minelab!
but how about a fair go fo all those operators who purchased there detectors before this date and also paid full wack this should apply to all 5000 owners regardless to purchase date.
just my two bobs worth

Exactly mate, the dealer is a silent transient owner, and they should not transfare the warranty,
unless they are going to use the machine for hire stock in the shop and in that case it would be transfared into
the businesses name.
The really good thing about this new deal is that if a dealer does transfare it into their name it will
be trackable as a "ex hire" detector and therefore the new private owner will know if its been knocked
around by the ARMY of newbies/weekend warriors who quiet truly dont really apreciate how to treat a detector.
All in All its a very good thing.

Re: Minelab warranty transfer
Yeah... great for purchasers from today onward. VERY unfair for anyone who has bought a new detector in the last five years. Remember the 4000 had a five year warranty available to those who did the ML training day.
Come on Minelab. Support your customers like they support you!!! Backdate the warranty to day one of the GPX4000.
