Re: FLYSPEC 2021
Went back to MY spot yesterday and some b@%$#&d was detecting in MY area so I cruised passed pretending not to show any interest at all .
That's the way the cookie crumbles.
I wasn't to worried as he was swing his detector at breakneck speed and about 4 inches off the ground
Back today for another go, snagged 3 bit's for .5 of a gm.
I'm still amazed with the elite coil, got a .2gmer down a measured 8 inches, a very iffy signal but a few scrapes and the signal improved

Re: FLYSPEC 2021
I'm still pinging some nice little nuggets from the same spot,8 today and 3 the other day[still waiting for that deep murmur]
Big fat juicy spiders are aplenty at the moment, I'm still amazed at their engineering skills by being able to attach a web to a blade of grass some distance away for structural support.
Not sure how they actual decide what to use, do they actual look around and think that's a good looking anchor point. Life's big question

Some targets were very iffy, removing the leaf litter in the first scrape made them more obvious.
All in all a bit of fun

2 tiddlers this arvo, a glorious day to be in the bush.
I noticed my furry little friends were on the move, they may have been getting too hot and decided to move to a cooler spot??
Once again I pondered the big questions in life, which caterpillar decided it was time to move on, and who decided to lead and and where to ?
Are they democratic and took a vote or are they lead by a grubby dictator
I need to concentrate more on my detecting

Re: FLYSPEC 2021
Twas another glorious day in the scrub.
I got a bit bored with the same old spot as it was dwindling out. I decided to take the treasure detector for a spin around an old mine/crusher site but no luck
I cruised around the bush for a while rubber necking for some old diggings/reef working -no luck
I was wasting time and the arvo was running out so I went back to my boring old spot and pinged 4 tiddlers including a speci [right hand side in pic ] ,a total of 1.2 grams, you could have knocked me down with a feather. plus a few other on different days.
moto- never say never

Re: FLYSPEC 2021
I'm still managing to pull a few tiddlers from this one spot.
I went out a few days ago and some mongrel [very nice fellow prospector ] was standing next to his car surveying the area
15 or so metres away from where he was standing was a little patch where I got a dozen little nuggs, so thanks to some very tidy hole filling and leaf litter covering in the past by meez I don't think he spotted my activities Pays to cover up
I casually cruised past and gave him a nod and kept going pretending to be TOTALLY UNINTERSTED as I got up the road I looked in my revision and saw him leave
So I did a slow bush blocky and returned to ping a few more.

I rarely change my setting and I'm to lazy to grid/circle/chain.
My belief system in life is based on fate, I'm a happy wonderer in the bush just gotta put the coil over it.

Re: FLYSPEC 2021
Gridding is essential when on a bit of a gold patch to give yourself the best chance of getting all it has to offer. By just wandering around willy nilly with no set pattern spots will be missed & you will probably detect some same ground numerous times which wastes time when out there. By gridding you will cover the area you want & know what ground you have covered. Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs but you create your own fate/luck by being a bit more thorough when on the gold. It is hard enough to find in the first place so when on to a bit you need to give it your best effort.
Best of luck out there

Another beautiful crispy day here in central vic.
Rugged up for for a detect and ventured to a new spot, after about 1/2 an hour I pinged this nice little 2.67gmer,so for the next hour
I circled, gridded, cross gridded, walked backwards and detected doing handstands but alas it was an orphan nugget
The two other bits were from the other day
Beer was niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

Back to my old patch of some 40 bits today, as I left my wife said good luck, I replied I've done it to death. I'm going there to enjoy the bush.
With a dodgy battery that lasted an hour I swapped to my 6 year old original gpx battery and continued on.
I must say that my god of "fate" was with me today as "IT" [ NON BINARY GOD ] BLESSED ME WITH 1.88 gms of the yella stuff. all I could say was what the!
once again the beer was nice

I went back yesterday to my same spot that I got those seven & got a skunk. One signal really had me going. I was down to bedrock & into a crevice. Having to smash it open more to finally get the signal out. Was 100% sure it was going to be gold, & I don't acknowledge that feeling until the target is in my hand. Been down that road too many times. Was a bloody boot tack. Just a reminder not to count the chickens before they have hatched. That killed my day, although it was beautiful up there.
Looking down the gully I was detecting having E-biked up from down the very bottom left side just out of the pic
Looking up the gully

Re: FLYSPEC 2021
Bit like many gold deposits. Been transported many miles from it origin. Its origins quite possibly totally destroyed & eroded away by the glaciers. Then on top of the glacial activity there is land upheaval, faulting & folding. Lifting ancient deposits thousands of feet & now on top of block mountains. Crazy geography in trying to work out why gold is where it is today & where it came from. Like they say, gold is where you find it & here in NZ that can be anywhere. Just like the little gully above in my pics & you can see how high up that is. It is also a dry gully with no water running down it. The old timers brought very limited water to it by ditches & races. Possibly only when there was snow melt in the spring. You can still see the small ditches & races they used for the ground sluicing. Even in those pics.
I ended up finding 5 little bits of gold in a late afternoon detect today at a local spot close to home. That is glacial deposited gold. So at least my weekend wasn't a total skunk.
