Re ("Stay at home mode" for 14 days, and then another 14 for good measure)

My understanding is that people with the virus stay at home for 14 days, but are not retested and some still have the virus to spread around.

And we still have people flying in from Overseas admittedly to self isolate but..... along with crew from OS Cargo ships wandering around, along with Muppets in SA going to Beach side caravan parks in towns with a aging populations. ( to my knowledge SA has not closed down CP's its up to CP management)

So we may be getting used to it a while longer

Then why not just keep the infected locked away in Quarantine after say 28 days and let the rest out to got on with the rest of there business as thay are not infected nor likely to get infected as long as the ones that are infected stay in Quarantine.

The statements being made by the pollies and media that this is the "New Normal" is utter BS and there is no way we should have to "Get used to it"

Until we have a vaccine and thus have wide spread herd  immunity we are all going to have to get used to the present restrictions. These could be in place for  at least the next 18 months. If they are relaxed  too soon then all the sacrifices that we all  have made will be rapidly lost and  we will be back to square one. Then to slow the resulting explosive pandemic even tougher restrictions will have to be implemented.
Do we really want to be in the situation of Italy, Spain, UK or the  catastrophic situation in the USA?

Look fellas, Its either law or it isn't, anything else in between, I consider to be government rhetoric. If the government has made/declared it as law, then whether it suits us or not, we have to abide by the law that governs what we can or cannot do. In reality, no one can stop anyone from breaking the law. Go for it, but please don't then try to find an excuse that you the individual, were in the right in doing what you have done, when being fined or some how ended up catching the corona virus, then passing it on to another, or worse found fighting for your own life because of the decision you & you alone decided to take. I know many here are hurting for the actions the government has taken, & can already see, in the short time we've been under lock down, is causing a lot of stress & will continue to do so, the longer we're kept under lock down, but do keep in mind, the actions they have taken so far are working & are for the safety & well being of us all. So find something to do in way of amusement, so that time passes with as little stress as possible, before we all end up losing the plot.
The government is asking for patience, in doing the right thing by one another, so that we can all get through these unprecedented times, as safely & as quickly as possible, but it won't happen if each & everyone of us, were to treat the law with contempt.

But agree with granite 2, Mask should be removed correctly and not touched ( or words to that affect)

They got us disarmed and confined.
Probably a bit harder to do that in the US when everyone has guns.

I'm for masks. The authorities probably trying to stop them being panic bought.
Anything will do. Scarf. We used those ruff things. Like fishermen use.
Heck, just pull your T shirt up when in a close situation.
You don't know if you are infected for up to 2 weeks or more.

Alan, many of us on here including myself are licenced/registered shooters, & in possession of more than one firearm, but the recent surge or spike of firearm sales, started to occur, the moment this corona crisis hit our shores & had the government concerned & rightly so. People were buying firearms through fear & panic alone & not exactly for the purpose of their intended use, so I'd hate to think, what exactly were they buying them for?    
This is what happens when we're pumped with one to many zombie apocalypse films to watch & or quarantined/isolated in one place for long periods of time which can lead to "paranoia". Imagine some poor unfortunate soul knocking on your door at some unexpected time of day or night for help & in fear of this corona virus crisis, fearing for ones life, loses the plot & ends up blowing the door off its hinges & this is only one of the reasons as to why the current surge in firearm sales, were quickly put to a sudden stop.  
It is in those 2 weeks infected with the corona virus, one inadvertently without being aware/sure of what they're going through, that ends up passing it on to others.

If the WHO had acted just three weeks earlier nearly 95 per cent of today’s infections and deaths would not have happened.

More than 1.5 million people have been infected with COVID-19 so far and 94,500 have died.

The study raises more questions about the WHO’s failure to recommend early travel bans based on advice from China that the disease could not be transmitted from human-to-human contact.

Taiwanese officials told the WHO on December 31 they had enough evidence to confirm the virus could be transmitted human-to-human but the WHO ignored that advice because China disagreed.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission,” the WHO said on January 14 – already two weeks later than first being informed.

Then on January 22 an emergency committee debated declaring a global emergency and banning travel to China.

A Sky News Australia investigation revealed last week the WHO was refusing to name who blocked calls for a travel ban at that meeting and what say China had in the decision.

Beijing resisted and the group of doctors calling for widespread travel bans were overruled.

It took another week for the WHO to reverse that decision, implement travel ban recommendations and label the crisis a global emergency.

According the data trend calculated by Dr Shengjie Lai in the Southampton study, that four week delay was responsible for nearly every infection and death in the world today.

In a more disturbing twist WHO general director Tedros Adhanom, who the Financial Times reports was planted at the organisation’s head by Chinese pressure, has begun politicising his failures by attacking the Taiwan officials who warned him about the pending pandemic."

Keogh, what does American politics have to do with us Australians here? This bloke's running for senate & like all politicians running for a seat in parliament, their main purpose is to dig up as much past s**t on their opponent/s as they can, in order to have it used against them. The first law of wining a seat in politics consist of "promise them everything, then when your in power, come up with any excuse to give them nothing" But the bottom line here is, whats this got to do with us prospectors/detectorists here in Australia? We're a gold detecting/prospecting forum, not a forum for weeding out corrupt American politics/politicians.  We have enough political crap/rhetoric of our own to contend with here, not alone overseas politics. After sitting/listening to all that were said, I came out with a head full of mush.  If anyone on here wishes to discuss politics or the conspiracies of government politics, subscribe to a forum consisting of such.
