Last weekend at Georgetown
Hi folks,
Here are my finds for last weekend. The smallest went 0.19gm and the biggest was 1.14gm. The one in the middle is 0.73gm and was found at 15cm in hard red clay/rocks.
My best weekend for number of bits. Just have to find the bigger ones now.
Cheers
Doug

Splendid! always nice to come home with some reward, I definately feel there is much gold still hidden in the Georgetown area.............as vast as it is, but like everywhere else.... theres an awful lot of dirt between it , good luck up there.

Nice looking colour. Well done Doug. I'v always said, if one becomes competent to the point of picking up the tiniest bits of detectable gold, what chance do the bigger slugs of gold have from escaping, when within reach of detector/coil capabilities? Only a matter of time.

Re: Last weekend at Georgetown
Hi folks,
Here is the photo of my latest finds from up that way. Both leaf and normal nuggets. All the normal nuggets were found in the same patch. We still have to get the quartz out of the largest nugget.
Cheers
Doug

Nice work rockhunter62 . Have you tried heating the quartz then plunging it in cold water? Guaranteed to crack that sucker up. Harry

Yes Grizzly, there would be about half a dozen or so properties in the Georgetown, Forsayth area that you can pay to detect/camp on.

Re: Last weekend at Georgetown
Cheers Doug, I wasn't really doing any prospecting when I was living in the Isa, so I missed a heap of opportunities. I'll get back up that way for a holiday soon.

Re: Last weekend at Georgetown
Hi folks,
Carol and I just got back from our trip up to Western Creek and here is the photos of our finds. Mostly found with the GPZ7000 that I borrowed.
Larry modelling the gold again.
We might have got the oz if we stayed another couple of days. We were averaging 2gms a day.
The biggest was the top left specie at 3.25gms down to about 0.12gm. The first 5 in the top row are all over a gram.
I'll be back that way at the end of September.
Cheers for now.

Yes Wayne there would have to have been about 18-24 different caravans/camper trailers there each day over the time that we were there. Not everyone was finding the yellow stuff. One father daughter team found a 63gm nugget up one of the creeks on they're 3 day trip.

Yes Mike,
That one is 2.5 grams and when I dug it up I thought that it was another lead projectile until I washed the dirt off it.

Well done, Doug. You obviously found your way around. Bit of leaf gold there by the look of it.

Yes Annie,
The large piece of leaf gold went 1.06 grams and was found with the Gold Monster 1000 with the large coil down about 100mm on Ground Balance Auto Plus and All Metals. GM gets the big thumbs up from me.

Re: Last weekend at Georgetown
Nice work, perhaps the flat sheet gold occurs elsewhere as well but to my eyes at least that is unmistakably some beautiful Western Ck Gold, good to hear Jeff and Shirley are still getting good numbers of prospectors to the field, some amazing gold has come from there in the last few years, big and solid lumps to make your mouth water and sheets of that flat stuff by the handful at times, much of it I have seen with my own eyes and held in my hands but I still believe the there is without doubt some very good gold yet to be found on WK
