Ravenswood / Charters Towers
G'day,
Looking at heading out towards Charters Towers / Ravenswood for a little break and some detecting if I can. Does anyone know any one out that way that allows detectorists. There is only two of us and we are happy to pay.
Any help would be appreciated,
thanks
Leigh

Charters Towers area
Hi Leigh
If you are serious about this area you need to work out exactly where you want to detect, find out who owns the area give them a call & hope like hell, This area is very much a closed shop unless you know someone or have been around here for many years, you will most likley contact alot of properties before you find somewhere, don't be discouraged I'm just giving you the fact's.
best of luck

Thanks Lee
Thanks Lee I certainly do appreciate your help. From a little more research and from your knowledge it would seem that this is the case. Its a little disappointing from a prospecting point of view, but certainly understandable from a farming point of view. I am still a little shocked with the QLD goldfields and learning. there does not seem to be a lot of area up here for us to freely go and have a detect. There seems to be a catch which is hard to understand as its a great way to get outdoors, enjoy our country and try and get a little more fit. Coming from vic originally with so many areas allowed its a learning curve. Anyway thanks again for your reply and happy hunting

access
Hi All
In the Georgetown/ Forsayth area there are a number of properties that are pay per day to detect.
Yes access can be frustrating, although I have access to over 1 million acres in Gold country, but still don't have the time to get out there & check it out, still yet to find a patch of my own.
Good luck to all

Re: Ravenswood / Charters Towers
Hi Lee, if you have access to so much land area you are a very lucky guy indeed. If by any chance you have a few spots in w.a between kargoolie and wiluna that you could share with me i would greatly appreciate it as it will make things a lot easier when i go there next month, even a few gps coordinates would do fine. Thanks.
Cheers

Georgetown
Hi Frank
There is a small town called Forsayth which is 40k south of Georgetown, there are 2 properties just out of town, Mt Talbot & Curralea, you need to contact the manager of the Forsayth tourist park, Max, they have a deal worked out that you have to camp at the park they are pay to detect properties, Another spot is Gilberton which is 60k further south, you camp on the place no facilities, pay to detect.
good luck

Gilberton
Thanks for that Lee, will ring them tonight, I am heading off on 3 weeks leave on sunday the 1st August, looking to spend a couple of days in the Einasleigh and Forsayth areas and go for a couple of days at Flat Creek Station and then onto Gilberton, and on my run home will check out the moonstone resourses reserve then onto Hughenden, then down to Muttaburra, Aramac then home. So it will be a All bush trip so that will be great.
