North qld and the gpz 7000
well just got back to the cold from the sunny north the 7000 for depth was far better then the 5000 was even with new coils on it. the sdc 2300 cleaned a lot of small bits up and if it ran over a bigger it pined them. great trip with good company lots of that north beer xxxx but some things are backwards up there.

Never underestimate that little man Phill.
When it comes to detecting he would find gold with a broom.
Enio
Great result the Ruffles.

Re: North qld and the gpz 7000
Well done Sean & Ronny It looks like Qld is a lot lighter of their gold stocks. I know that you guys had the 14"Elite coil up there but did you have a chance to try out the new NF 17x13.??? I know it is not yet releasted but there was a few prota types floating around to try.

Re: North qld and the gpz 7000
Just got back from Nth Queensland. Had a great time with the team. Thanks fellas. Big thanks to Lee for your advice. I must say the leaf gold with the "sergeant stripes" crystal imprints are nice and the odd bit of chunky crystalline gold and herringbone type gold was good to find. I did get a shock at how big the leaf gold pieces are....yet they are so thin and are surprisingly light on the scales.
Allowing for some specimens an estimate of my tally is just over 5 oz of gold for 13 days detecting (215 pieces). I will be back there, maybe sooner then later.
After my first sojourn detecting in QLD I rate Nth Qld as being as good as WA...albeit there is possibly a slightly better chance of bigger slugs and heavier patches in the Pilbara
Cheers Tributer
PS. I am loving the performance of the 7000 after using it on a range of different goldfields...and do rate it at the best detector I have used (despite the shaft being uncomfortably short for my height)

Hey Steve
Great to see you had a good trip, nice one for your 1st in NQ, it was good to chat to you on the phone & I hope I was able to help a little, how did you go on the "Red Hill".
I was happy to help as I know it's a long way from home & a little local knowledge can be an asset.

Re: North qld and the gpz 7000
Hi Lee, I got a couple on the red hill. One good run came from a bench above the creek less then 100 metres from the camp ground and even on the old patches with hundreds of detector holes from the initial property opening rush period there were still some pieces to be found. Thanks for the help. Hope to get back your way and maybe line up a detect and a yarn with you sometime.
Cheers Tributer

Am missing that warm weather too...was a good trip and plenty of ground still to look at. My new SDC did good! But not as good as some.
