Visiting from way up north...
Hello,
I just joined this forum after reading through a few of the posts and having tried a bit of detecting in the Hill End, Sofala, Trunkey Creek areas. I am a complete beginner, but invested in a detector in alaska that I brought down with me while visiting a friend for a month. My attempts to find gold have been unsuccessful so far, after spending several days at each of the above spots, and I am back in Sydney now, planning on heading back West later in the month. I'm afraid I have way more questions than I could bother you with at the moment, but I wonder if I could ask (without breaking protocol or risk offending) if anyone would have a suggestion of perhaps some areas that might be good for a beginner such as myself. I know that may be asking too much, considering the secrecy that surrounds a good spot! Either way, I really appreciate all the good information that members have posted on this site! I will have to say that even though I didn't find any color, I did enjoy camping and hiking around in some of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen! It's amazing here in NSW, and gold or no gold, this has been an amazing trip. Thanks!

Good Luck and hope you find that elusive Australian nugget.
