Only $10688 to go.
Had the opportunity for my second trip with the 7 yesterday and went to an area which had produced much small gold from very shallow ground. I stuck with the settings from my first trip mainly high yield and low smoothing. After grovelling in the dust for an eternity and having my mate retrieve my little plastic spade from the car my first 7000 gold!
I couldn't believe how thin, flat and tiny it was! An easy day finished with about 23 bits of rubbish mainly shotgun and 6 bits of gold. My weight at the end of the day was 0.45 grams but would have been a little more had I not lost the tiny first bit. The smallest of the bits I didn't lose was 0.04 grams and the bit lost was even smaller so I am very impressed with the sensitivity of such a large coil and its ability to pick up targets in an area that had been proverbially flogged to death with detectors and rakes for many years.
So at the current price of gold that means I only have about $10688 to go.

How much is a gpz7000 really worth?
Good to hear you had a successful outing hawkear.Just to put things into prospective ive done a few quick sums. For argument sakes l'll work on gold being valued at $50 a gram.At half a gram a day it would take 428 days to pay for the detector. And 428 days times 29 targets equates to 12412 digs.So on the positive side each target is worth 1 dollar approx..Good luck with that.hoo roo.

Re: How much is a gpz7000 really worth?
G'day hawkear,
Good to see you have found some nice little finds and like they say they all add up in the end. It does give you a confidence boost when you do finally find some colour. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
PS nothing wrong with your cover by the way.
Cheers.
Mike.
