Post  gullyhunter Mon Mar 09, 2015 10:08 am

At this point in time - one area I do know where it surpasses the GPX`s is it sensitivity to small gold and specimens !!
I have found my smallest gold bits ever using the Zed and also quite a few specimens that did not register on the 4500 using an 8" coil , so I know it has the capabilities and sensitivity to achieve this - ( smallest piece struggles to register on my scales and was from a depth just short of 2 inches .. measured affraid  )
My efforts of late have been concentrated on searching for deeper targets in areas where we suspect bigger bits MAY be sitting at depth - but if the gold is not there then a signal will not be given ... simple !!
For me , I have invested into the GPZ for the very reason of more depth - like any thing new it takes time to become confident and have faith in the machine that you are using , the right attitude plays a huge part in successes of all kinds - hence I have not posted about the GPZ as I feel I still have a lot of work to do with this Zed model before I start throwing my opinions around " willy , Nilly " !!!
I have dug some deep targets that my trusty 4500 missed - and one of the main factors that was holding me back with the Zed was that I was continually comparing it to my 4500 . This I feel can be a restraint to some extent and now Im just honing in on the Zed - basically listening to what its saying ... starting from scratch so to speak ...
As for the price ... pffft !! I chose to buy it , no one forced me and now its up to me to make it work and recoup my ROI ... Effort = Rewards !!
Right - im off to the goldfields to continue with my learning ...

Good luck to all ...

Well said Gullyhunter, I my thoughts exactly, Still to early, still have to put the coil on it, and forget about comparing with another machine, most of us are still learning the functions and settings of the machine, any test done comparing machines is no comparison when it comes to the coil side of things.
Have patience every one the more negativity the less 7000 owners will post about their findings, so stay positive and keep our V26  for them.

Well said gullyhunter, if we keep looking back and comparing, we don't have the time to appreciate and enjoy the the benefits and advantages of this new machine, only time will tell, with the right attitude the resolts will come.
I am a big fan of your findings .

Hi  Gullyhunter
Thankyou for your honest report

I feel it will take more then a few days in the gold fields as well
before we really know the true potential Of this gpz7000

How long has it been since the release of this machine
V56  Gee only 15 days today for the ones who received them on the 23rd of February
Some collected them on the Saturday  21st of February

                  Early days still hey??

The gold certainly won't be screaming out to us, saying " here I am!" Come and dig me up!  lol!

We have to do the hard yards of walking over it and hearing it..
In the meantime we aren't giving up either..
Well.... we have found gold with it.  Why give up and sell it!   It does work!!

V06  Hope you walk over a whooper Glen, you sure deserve it.
Thanks again

Hi All
IMHO
Just because something is new does not mean it out performs something that is old!!!!!

My point - A new Hi-Lux 4x4 will not get me where I can go in my OLD 1990 Hi- Lux, it just can't due to the changes in design, it may run quieter & smoother with better economy but it can't get the job done!!!!!
But in saying that the only way to know what things can do is to get the experience with them or take advice from those that have the experience & that is what most of us are striving for here.

I know things are a little different in the electronics world from what I have referenced about the Hi- Lux but you get the picture, use it work it learn it a you will find out what it can do & what it can't.

The whole point is that Minelab claim it will outperform by up to 40% and I'd like to see them prove that with my 7000 and after 30 years of detecting I think I'm capable of judging it. I should also point out that it was my machine that was tested against 3 other 5000's that "the sodd" was talking about earlier.

It's about a guy getting a nice 12oz bit at a measured 1.1 metre with the 7000.
Yeah, that's about 40% deeper than I would have believed a GPX could have
picked up that gold. Razz

It was a guy from Dampier.

heard in that mode as well, found at a depth of 1100mm, I have no doubts this is the best detector yet"

Well, I believe it Jack, It is very hard to do a proper test on a test patch and nothing beats a virgin in ground target, problem is most
are rusty junk and you really need it to be gold for a proper comparison.  Even then both detectors need to be using modes to suit the prevailing
ground, none of this one detector getting a signal and letting the other detector tune to suit that spot.
That just suggests that the detector would have missed it.

I think the biggest problem is the big deep gold is not there.....or if there is some left, it may be a lot deeper.
I believe some people will ping big nuggets in deeper ground with the 7000 down there, but they will need to put the hours in
and most seem to think, stuff that, this is a nearly $11,000 detector and should be pulling big nuggets now. Rolling Eyes

G'day All,

I think most people are thinking that the GPZ7000 is going to ping all these BIG deep nuggets just like the SD2000 did back then, but I think the truth to this is most of the big bangers have been got and we need to concentrate more for these as iffy ones that the GPXs and their predecessors have missed. Therefore instead of running around listening for those Invisible big bangers, everyone need to slow down. Suspect

Cheers.

Mike.

The next level of big gold is just under the detection level of the 5000 , think about it Very Happy maybe when the bigger coil is released for the 7000 they will start to pop out .

When I bought a new 2100SD back in 1996 it came with three coils !! and I made the dealer allow me to test it before I bought .

That's how people kid themselves Jack, that level of gold may be comprised of less than 3 dozen nuggets in the whole triangle, for all we know.

Your SD2100 was a great buy at the price Jack, It and the SD2200 got most of the large detectable gold using Big DD coils, no doubt about it.
They went as deep as any........up to the 7000 IMO.

All hail the mighty Zed!!!! - Page 5 Empty Why did the 5000 leave the gold in the ground

Post  Basada Fri Mar 13, 2015 5:59 pm

Read your posts. My question to all of you is why did the 5000's leave the gold in the ground? Went out today got 20 pieces for 12 grams on a hammered patch. You can do your air test and the rest. At the end of the day the question is still there to be answered. The truth is the new technology found in the 7000.

Yep basada I saw how well zed went in a smashed patch and was very impressed. Air tests, buried targets aren't accurate enough. Undug gold targets still in the ground is the only test. What I saw was zed killing the 5. That was good enough for me to get zed. I was very dubious of the 70000 and it does have faults but it goes good enough for me.

A bit of interesting info about that 12oz nugget, was that they got a 1 1/2oz nugget at the 600mm depth mark and the 12oz was found
on checking the hole.

"The target was very quiet but it still clear at the start some thing that I didn't comment on was the fact that we got a ounce and a half piece out of the hole at around the 2 foot mark which at first we thought was the target it was only when we checked the hole that we found that the main signal was still much deeper down than we expected."

Did they detect the area previously with the  gpx series?

Yep, 4500 and 5000 with 18" goldstalker mono!

"the patch is a place that we have previously found a couple good sized bits previously along time ago and had been walked over since with the 4500 and the 5000 with a 18" gold stalker mono it has a iron a quartz deep wash, the orientation of the nugget was as it sits in my hand "

This maybe of interest to you blokes or girls in WA with regards to detecting on salt lakes with the GPZ7000. I found this youtube video of a bloke on wet beach sand doing some tests, I don't know how this compares to a salt lake, but there is someone out there that probably will

It sounded to me like the gpz7000 was running quite well and could just hear a gold ring target at 20", I know nothing about salt lake detecting in WA but if some of you people that do can have a look at this video and let us know what you reckon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzJwt9XZDKc
