All hail the mighty Zed!!!!
Or will it go down as the most over hyped, expensive detector in minelabs history?
One would think and expect it has to be a killer unit but time will tell. I'm sitting on the fence on this for now due to info I've recieved going back around 3 months to present day.
I'm testing one out on Monday myself Ive just gotta download the entire manual because you don't seem to get one for the 10700$ You pay.

There is defiantly a manual in the box with the machine, a hard copy booklet, just like before. You can still download the manual from the Minelab site also if you want to.

Re: All hail the mighty Zed!!!!
I'm told the same as troopy davsgold. There is a booklet but it's not covering the functions of the 7? Does that sound correct?

Re: All hail the mighty Zed!!!!
Ok Ok, I just got the "manual" outa the box to read it right through and well your right it is just the Getting started guide" bugger, now it's time to print out the 60 something odd pages.
When I first saw it in the box I didn't take enough notice, it looked fairly thick, but that was because there is only 12 or so pages of English and then about 8 x 12 pages of every other language, bugger and bugger.
cheers dave

Re: All hail the mighty Zed!!!!
Yes Jen, picked it up this morning, all charged up now and turned it on in the back yard in town, run nice and smooth with out all the electrical interference like the GPX PI models did when turned on in town.
Take it out tomorrow for a real test run on the local gold field.

Yep Martin, first print run was a total of 1 and that was just for us. printed double sided so it used 30 odd sheets of A4, nice plastic covers on front & back and binding, should be able to take it bush with us for the first while as we get used to the new beast.

Can't remember, Grekky set it in the shop to what he reckoned, he just went through the settings with me, but never having seen the machine before it will be getting out in the field and having a bit of a go to see how it suits.

Yes, for you I can, they have it set on 25, the FP for threshold is 27 in the manual so 25 is half way, it sounds good when turned on but will see what its like out in the field tomorrow.

Yes very much the same as what we are used to hearing from the GPX machines sound wise. FP for the GPZ tone is 53, Grekky likes 65 as does Veronica, I much prefer 38 which was the FP for deep on the GPX model.
I ran it in the back yard at home for a bit, ran very well and stable, nothing like trying to turn on a GPX in the back yard, had to use a DD and cancel for them with all the electrical interference in town, this new beast was very good so that's a plus for sure. It could get targets here and there in the lawn and it sounded like the 4500 or 5000 out in the field hitting a target. And NO I didn't dig up the bloody lawn to check the target.

Re: All hail the mighty Zed!!!!
Menu looks similar to the 3030 , I guess it all comes down to tone preference as there are only 3 x 2 modes if you like to speak off its a machine much like the 2300 turn on GB and away to go , my kids like the 2300 as they find color with it

Re: All hail the mighty Zed!!!!
The 3030 wasnt that hard to learn , doubt the Z will be with minimal settings and basically everything done for you once you have Cancel and GB the rest is really just personal preference
