Do I need a sadie or 8" Commander
If I'm digging up sub 0.1 gram tiddlers 2 - 3 cm deep with the 11" mono on the 5000 now?
Will a sadie etc punch deeper on the same size target?
Cheers

G'day paddywack,
As the rule of thumb goes the smaller the coil the smaller the gold and visa versa the bigger the coil bigger the gold. So to answer your question yes the smaller coils should punch down deeper for the smaller gold.
Cheers.
Mike.

my penny worth
I use an 11" mono as well.... For sure it seems the smaller coils will get smaller/deeper on tiny stuff but I reckon the main advantage would be getting the center of the coil closer to obstacles........

The good thing about the 11" is that it is pretty good on small gold at a bit of depth but it will also get those bigger bits at more depth that a smaller coil wont. The sadie is a ripper of a coil though & you wont go wrong if you get one. I have both & use both. Maybe go over your ground with the 11" first then hit it with the sadie. I am sure it will pay for itself.
Good luck out there.

Just my 2 cents worth but have a look at the Detech 8 inch mono. Excellent stable coil punches deep for its size. I can't fault mine coupled to a 4500 has paid for itself many many times over and has taken some severe punishment in the thick scrub. I use it as a tool for a job not a toy and work it hard. It now is basically a permanent attachment on the 4500 when not using the zed however I am also keeping an eye on the new gen coils as another option in the coil kit just waiting for a few more genuine unbiased comparisons on those coils before making a selection.

The coiltek 11 inch might be worth a look. You know, with the new winding's.

Coil technology is the only thing that is going to give our PI's a bit more punch & bring back to life old haunts for those of us that havnt forked out for a "Z" (yet) and it looks like there is going to be a bit of an influx in new coils from all the makers. The choice now is.... which one what size & how many....
Good luck out there
