Garrett Atx ....I'm just asking the question...........

Hi Guys......my detecting buddy is swinging a new atx with standard coil and has been very down on his luck with this machine......
When i off loaded my infinium to purchase a secondhand 4500 he remained absolutely loyal to Garrett saying this and that.
Well as you do when time permits and budget may allow you upgrade.
So that what he did ...from infinium to the atx.
We have been out several times and he has been over the same ground as me with the atx for zero grams opposed to my 11 something.

Now i realize there are so many variables here to numerous to list......But the question i ask is.......

Is there anyone here swinging an atx getting consistent grams to talk about in there usual spots......as my mate is is very dissapointed and i think i need to offer him some reassurance for the $4000 he has spent..
please feel free to.....pull me up if i'm jumping the gun early.

Hey Dan, when you are out together, and you get a target, do you call him over to see the response on the ATX?
That would make or break his confidence.
Like you, I tried the finny but have much more success with the 2200.

We haven't shared a target or checked but worked the same slopes and wash....i got those sneaky signals he got iron or nothing......the other thing we did do was check a .32g that the 4500 picked up at i think 3-4 inches under....he had to have the coil nearly touching in the centre to get a slight change in threshold......

Thanks Annie ....be interested in some more info as it comes to light......seems a tad off the mark with the gpx....but hopefully for my mate he picks up soon.

Try and share your targets before a dig, best way to learn and experiment with settings.

That dont tell us much Brad, like what coil? and what settings? and was it in virgin ground or on old diggings? and what depth.

I was using the 8" mono. It was at 4". Old diggings near powerlines.
