Re: Divining Rods
Adrian,I'd change that to "telepathic" powers, for "tepathic" powers haven't been introduced into this world yet.
Bottom line fellas, its the sheer will power of belief in what we can or cannot do that makes the difference.
Cheers Kon.

Shielded water and a well known bloke who didnt fail the test
There is a device in electrical/electronic engineering called a faraday cage that shields the inside from electrical activity on the outside. Just like miner mike suggested by using certain types of material the charges would not be able to be picked up outside the pipe. A simple side show scam.Adrian SS wrote:How do you arrange a test for psychic and divining power so that the diviners will fail?Ian Parker wrote:People have been successfully divined for water for thousands of years. Although I have never been to one of these challenges I am told that the challenge is a scam and designed so that the diviner can not do it. I think the real scam is the entry fee into the Muster.
Nobody knows how the ability (If the power existed, which it does not) works and so you cannot divise a means of causing the diviner to fail unless you have knowledge of how the divining ability works.
These people who have faced the challenge in the past to prove their claimed ability to divine ANYTHING or EVERYTHING have failed simply because psychic ability of ANY kind does not exist in nature. It exists only in the dreams and minds of those who like to think they have a Godlike power over the the forces of nature.
Now I am not religious but I don't think this well known bloke failed the challenge;
One day as ***** was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a] the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
What he taught from the boat was a method of divining to locate schools of fish.

Re: Divining Rods
Good call Lee, there are far too many unproven things out there to simply wipe them all off as mumbo jumbo, for instance most refuse to believe in the power of crystals, how could a simple natural rock exude any form of power?, you can't see it so it can't be there right?...well what about a magnet? you can't see anything but it's there right?, there right in front of your eyes is an unseen force coming from a piece of natural rock, no one can say it doesn't exist, we can see its effect, why can't a crystal (another rock) also have an unseen force, I have no way to confirm the existance of the ability to divine water, I know many do not succeed but surely out of all the thousands of successfull holes drilled for water there has to be some explanation it can't all be pure luck, yet no one claims the proof reward...... .rc62burke wrote:Science heyAdrian SS wrote:So if all of this divining forces are to do with Static electrical charges between the diviners rod and the water in the ground and that these piddlin charges can generate enough attractive force to cause a divining rod or willow stick to leap about or bend towards the ground then I imagine that if the diviner and his rod went outside and stood beneath storm clouds charged to the hilt with trillions of volts then the attractive forces would pretty much hoik the diviner and his willow or wire rods clean off the ground causing him to fly off up into the clouds ( where vers plenty uv worta )
This had me it fits LOL
The military all over the world spent quite some time and money in investigating the claims of psychic and dowsing powers. There are obvious advantages if you could have an army of soldiers with tepathic and psychokinetik, psychic and divining ability. But no such ability has ever been proven to exist by any of the military forces scientific investigations. Never! Not ever!
There are even things science cannot prove or disprove, it is not the be all and end all, science fails where it excels (breaking things down to the smallest micron) many many things are intertwined & cannot be isolated & proven, just my thoughts.

Back on the gold trail
Hi RicAlluvialRic wrote:I should say here that I do believe there are people out there who have an ability to divine sub-terrain water. Ric.
It's not the gold that a good miner/diviner detects, it's the water that is underground that holds the gold. As a reef deposit erodes over millions of years into a secondary deposit in the rivers with the use of oxidisation and water, with this the gold is washed into the streams. These streams are often underground now but still hold gold, and when it rains enough they still flow. So although an area may look barren it may contain an underground stream full of gold. There used to be a mining company (German)? who knew of this and divined the streams and did extremely well. So well in fact that the French government locked them up in the Bastille (prison). A little know fact about the French revolution. I am new here and can not post pictures but you can see pictures of this by doing a Google search for pictures of divining gold.

A friend of mine did some divining and showed me the correct places to dig.I did some detecting and showed him where the gold really was.He now uses the best divining rod available, its called a PI detector. His old divining rods are now somewhere up a tree.

Why it's called RUB BISH
Thought I would explain why people call divining RUBbish
As early as the 7th Century BC, the ancient Greeks were aware that amber, when RUBbed vigorously, could attract dust and cloth from a distance. (TO RUB)Today, we say that such objects are “charged”. For example, a plastic ruler when rubbed has the ability to pick up tiny pieces of paper. Electrostatics is the study of stationary charge.
Jump in time to say 1200-1300AD with priests, churches and monetary systems. Around this time religious scholars had a huge expansion of writing and (printing). For years religious scholars had to write copies of books to duplicate them. Around this time the invention of the screw press used to make olive oil was converted to a printing press. These new copies of books were at the forefront of technology and the churches wanted them at all costs to mass produce the word of God and also make a lot of money. Did you know that the Bible is the most printed book in the world? To make the printing job easier the old bible was tested against the then known scientific knowledge (electricity had no explanation) so the scholars, who thought that they were greater messiahs than their forefathers edited out the teachings from the word of god. Without a viable explanation of how divining worked, divining stood no chance, and was changed from the Greek "TO RUB" into RUBBISH and thrown into the printing rooms bin. It made the printing job easier too (less pages same price). Although divining still worked it became known as the work of the DEVIL. It wasn’t until around 1600AD that theories of electricity were announced.

Farrady sheilded Pipes buried in the ground with water inside them are not going to generate any significant static charge unless the water is flowing through the pipes. The the static EMFs would be transfered/dissipated to the surounding ground matrix.
If the water is flowing as in an underground river or stream then any static charge build up will very quickly be transfered into the river bed and surounding enclosing rock and earth.
Very strong electric currents flow through the earth all of the time as a result of cosmic, Plasma and electromagnetic radiation from the sun. These currents can do serious damage to our electronic and power distribution industry but I have yet to hear of any dowser / diviner detecting any of these very large static electrical voltages and currents.?............Maaaan! If they did then that little forked willow stick would surely be ripped ta shreds. Or! If the diviner connected his charge to the underground earth current/voltages he would be instant toast
As for crystal power:
I am not sure exactly what mystical power a crystal is supposed to have.
What I do know is that quartz when vibrated or compressed suddenly will generate a potential difference across the ends or between crystal faces.
This is not a mysterious power it is electrical energy. The power generated in a ruby crystal laser is not a mysterious power but is light and electrical energy that can be produced due to the natural atomic state of particular elements.
I know that if ya suck a bit of beryl or berillium based crystal that it has power ...........Power ta make yer very sick
Dangling a crystal over ya missus very pregnant belly is not going to tell ya whether the bub is male or female or the next Albert Einstein. and hanging ut from a thread over a map is not going to locate yer lost grand pa. Them crystal jus aven't been tort ow ta read a map, let alone link the map to a country.

Re: Divining Rods
I used to build little crystal radios that worked through a crystal (high school). By moving the "cats whisker" to different spots on the surface of the crystal we could get different radio stations. That was pretty mysterious to me, I still don't know why it works but I do know it works.

The principle is not so mysterious once you learn about basic atomic theory and then you discover that it is only natural.
You are right though in that you donot have to know HOW or Why something is what it is in order to know that it IS.
We all know that magnetism and gravity exists but we cannot see it. We ALL can however, demonstrate the existance of these forces every day of the week.
We cannot see the tiny atoms and sub atomic particles that we and everthing else is made up of but we can see all that is around us.
Did you know that the earth and us and diamonds and everything else that we can see and cannot see is made up of more empty space than atoms.
There are energy particles that are so small that they can pass completely through the earth without ever stricking another atom or atomic particle.
The entire planet consists of much more empty space than earth and rock. ...... So why can't we all walk straight through stuff if we are mostly empty space??......... Well ut's all about Bonding

Quartz crystals
Hi Jim It is very amazing what quartz can do. Apparently it is caused by the crystals structure. When mechanical pressure is placed on the crystal it sets off a type of chain reaction that causes it to electrically vibrate at a very accurate frequency. Just like tapping a piano tuning fork. The frequency depends on how the crystal is cut and as in your experiment where you tap into the crystal. The same thing happens in quartz reefs underground. Because the quartz (and sometimes gold) is under pressure from the surrounding rock there is a small voltage difference. Old reef miners new this and used divining rods on the surface and underground to detect the quartz reefs. I guess it is one of the first metal detectors ever. Cool trick hey!granite2 wrote:I used to build little crystal radios that worked through a crystal (high school). It's all good
It's all good Goldgeo. Adrian like many others may not understand divining and therefor discards it as rubbish. Hey I studied electronic engineering and used to think of it as the biggest load of crap ever, well until I picked up a set of rods walked 5 spaces and located the telephone line. I immediately thought WOW this works AND it detects metals. One of the best lessons I've learnt while researching the subject was from a psychologist who told me about Scatomas (I think that's how you spell it) A scatoma is a type of thought blockage and goes something like this. Imagine going to play golf and your about to T off. If in your head you think that there is no way you are going to get a hole in one, then you more than likely will not succeed. But if you think that that ball is going straight into that hole with that one shot, then your chances of doing it increase dramatically!Goldgeo wrote:Adrian you obviously have a grudge against deviners, why keep posting to try and belittle the people having a discussion here? Another thing I found was why people think the way they do? To understand this I've found it's best to go back in history. After, all we are all just a bunch of overgrown programmed monkeys. And the way we are programmed can be extremely beneficial or have extremely disasterous effects on our lives. Adrian is thinking of conventional current which he has been taught. But static charges are slightly different. To understand them you have to conquer two things. One is to be able to visualise and understand electrons spinning around the core of atoms. The other is being able to close your eyes and imagine floating in outer space and looking around our universe and calculate things on a huge scale. This is known as the power to think BIG and SMALL, it is a very difficult mind exercise.
It all reminds me of that first star wars show where Luke Skywalker stacks his fighter in the mud and that little green dude Yoda appears and says mmmm.. Help you I can. The young Luke Skywalker laughs at this tiny green dude. Yoda shakes his head and says mmmm... MUCH TO LEARN... YOU HAVE.

Re: Divining Rods
G/Day Ian,
.
I wouldn't say that I dismiss dowsing as rubbish, but rather as something of which I have never seen evidence of existance.
When I do see or learn how any sort of psychic power can be a reality then that will be something else learned about this life of ours.
I do have a smattering of knowledge re electronics and physics and Astronomy having been involved with it all of my working life and in retirement.
Also believe that life exists on other worlds. I have been a UFO investigator for many years.
I guess the key word is "Belief" Belief implies not knowing fully due to the lack of proof and so one has faith and Believes in something being real or true without the need for proof. I am a person who needs proof and where UFOs and little green/ grey space men are conserned, I have yet to find proof of existance. I guess then like divining a person can only believe in the existance of such a thing until proof comes along.

"If in your head you think that there is no way you are going to get a hole in one, then you more than likely will not succeed" - TRUE - it must be about a 1,000 to 1 chance.
"But if you think that that ball is going straight into that hole with that one shot, then your chances of doing it increase dramatically" - TRUE ????????
A bit like divining - nobody can actually get proof.

I thought you said your Grandfather showed you how to divine for water? Is it that you, yourself can't do it? Basic water divining really has nothing to do with psychic ability. It can be shown in a physics lab. The electroscope is a pure example of these theories. There has even been car engines built using this technology. Do a www search = STATIC ENGINE OR ELECTROSTATIC ENGINEAdrian SS wrote:G/Day Ian,

UFO's are cool. I believe in them too. But I put a sensible cap on the situation. I have seen designs for UFO's and could show you links to youtube video's showing them working. But in reality they are not practical and were a vision of the past that sold newspapers. Crop circles or UFO landings are very easy to explain. Some are made by land based GPS guided machinery and some from old nuclear powered satellites. The nuclear powered sats have a nuclear tank system. Like water drops dripping into a water tank the nuclear electrons drip into a storage tank like the clicks on a Geiger counter. And like the water tank, if you have enough drips then the tank eventually fills up. This energy gets released via a device called a MASER. The M.A.S.E.R was the predecessor or the modern day L.A.S.E.R. The only difference being is that the Maser amplifies microwave frequencies. Microwave Amplification through Stimulated Emission Radiation. The Maser is pointed to earth and the tank is discharged causing a crop circle to appear in seconds. NO LITTLE GREEN MEN INVOLVED

Re: Divining Rods
I didn't say that grand dad showed me how to water divine He did not allow anyone else to touch his willow fork. I said that mum watched him do it plenty of times and that I tried to do it.
Not through instruction but simply having a go at it for myself at home.
What I actually did was to try and locate mums gold necklace which I placed on the floor in the hallway at night with the lights out and tried to locate it with a pair of bent wires that I held out in front of me and walked along the hallway trying to get the wires to cross as I passed over the necklace. The hallway was completely dark so I didn't know when I was passing over the necklace. I was 8 years old at the time.
I did try to detect the creek running along the bottom of the back paddock but without success. The wires would swing and sway all over the place as I tried to keep them balanced and if I let them hang loose and horizontal in my grip they would not move at all.
Crop Circles Or Crap circles as I call them have been around long before masers and satelites and yes I agree that little green men are not involved.
UFOs have interested me ever since I saw my first one at age 18. I have seen 5 and for the past 45 years have been gathering reports and interviewing people who claimed to have seen them. Many have been Identified as man made objects or other natural objects. A lot have remained unidentified due to insuficient information and a small percentage have appeared to be of unexplainable origin and fit into the catagory of what most people think of when UFOs are mentioned. I have also investigated a two abduction cases that resulted in somewhat disturbing outcomes that had nothing to do with being abducted by aliens.

I believe it is Liars and people selling gear in disguise that ruin good forums .
Adrians opinions are respected , yours on the other hand ?
This forum is near perfect since the recent flush of most sellers , we're starting to see the return of real prospectors and
Hey we can even have a discussion about a garrett infinium here without the ridicule and belittling of others opinions

Re: Divining Rods
Ian Parker, I like the way you think. When it comes to prospecting for gold your state of mind has a lot to do with how successful you will be. I find a positive state of mind is very important. And even what some would call silly like imagining a shiny gold nugget in the ground and holding that picture in your mind seems to help me when I'm having a bad day.
When on my first trip to Tibooburra with mates we drove past a slope 5 times and each time I felt I should stop and detect that slope. On the last time we would be passing I got my mate who was driving to pull over. He did so and our group of 7 found their first patch for the trip ensuring we all went home with a good amount of gold each. Had that slope not called to me we would never have found that gold. This same thing has happened many times since then and my wife, Cheryl is better at it than me.
I think rather than being something abnormal I think it is our subconscious computing all our past experiences with where we had found gold before and coming up with a good comparison then inducing a feeling that we should investigate that spot. More than anything I think we have to be able to recognise what these feelings mean.
Cheers, Jim

Re: Divining Rods
I don't think you can devine for water or gold on their own, but where there is water or an old river or creek bed at depth there is probably a build up of minerals including gold if its in the area, this could be why a deviner reacts to the minerals just like the detector does over mineralized ground,

Re: Divining Rods
Good point there Stu.It might not be the actual divining rods, but the presence of certain pockets of heavy concentrations of electrical,or magnetic fields within the minerals that draw or cause the divining rods to do what they do?

Re: Divining Rods
me eldest brother pete came for a visit when we still had our small farm and I was repairen one of the fences,
one second he was there then he was gone
I spotted him in the distance walken like a zombie
Their he was with a couple of lengths of bent up fencen wire, He said thats where the water pipe to the house is!
I'm like Derr you can see the trench you twit
Then he reckons I must have water under the brick barby cause the rods don't lie
I already knew but he would've had no idea that there was an old water pipe running from the lower dam
to the house that I'd long since capped off at the BBQ
RIP Pete

Almost spot on
Almost spot on Stu. But both water and gold can take on a static charge. If you take a look at a Triboelectric chart you will see gold takes on a negative charge. The thing is that it is both the same charge so difficult to discriminate one from the other. Like having a box of apples, it's all apples! When a detector coil is made there is a thin faraday shield placed around the coils to stop this charge entering the coils.snapper wrote:I don't think you can devine for water or gold on their own, but where there is water or an old river or creek bed at depth there is probably a build up of minerals including gold if its in the area, this could be why a deviner reacts to the minerals just like the detector does over mineralized ground,

Mineralization and ground balancing is different again. Caused by what is know as magnetic permeability. The permeability of substances is it's ability to let a magnetic field pass through the substance. Like conductivity for electricity. In a DD coil the first coil sends a magnetic field to the second coil. If the coils are moved over a substance like gold the permeability between the two coils is better and the second coil receives more magnetic field and produces more signal. As we move a DD coil around the permeability of the soil changes with mineralization and we have to stop and ground balance or switch to Auto balance.
I like finding the charge of the water/gold/apples! My theory is that if I am prospecting an area where I know there have been gold barring reefs around, then if I find an underground stream I stand an excellent chance of getting gold if I dig down to that stream.
