Re: Boost setting with your 4500
hi peter i do if ground conditions and emi allow me to , but not until ive claened up the surface trash and shallow nuggets
i find if i run it straight up shot pellets sound like 22 projectiles
and if i run boost i normaly sacrifice gain and stab , but use the power of the coil instead
if i have a large coil and cant get a high gain ill also run boost

I run in boost on the 4500 always...ATM here in WA im also able to run a high gain 13-14 and stabilizer 4 most days using the 17x11 NF.
Not sure how long that will last but taking advantage of it daily.
Heres a few from yesty arvo...the 6.9g was about 12".

Re: Boost setting with your 4500
If its running a little chattery im not picking it up. (possibly because im use to it) However changing ground conditions is very noticeable using these settings.
Hot rocks will chatter from depth...but so too does the gold.
EMI has its moments, but is mostly on the low ATM.

Re: Boost setting with your 4500
I never really liked boost as I always ran the Target volume up near max 18-20, and boost didn't improve the target response on deep targets it just made the detector more sensitive to ground noise.
I prefer to play with the target volume this is one of the most powerful adjustments the 4500 or 5000 has you just have to wind back the threshold a little and threshold will be chattery but the target booms through and you will hear those deep missed targets!!!
