Received this from a new member. Wouldn't we all like to be in this situation.

From huckle berry To Jefgold, Yesterday at 18:18HI EVERY ONE .First of all excuse my spelling.
Im new at decting spent 3 mths at kookynie Western ozz .Had a blast of a time found gold almost every day.That was 2 years ago heading back over for 1 year prospecting .Quit my job and cant wait ,loved the camping and freedom .a mate of mine has a private lease 4 me to stay on,a big shed and a caravan .

I hope to have a try for gold on one of the dry salt lakes in the leonora area.JUST wondering do you have to use a special salt coil . im usina a gpx 4000 detecrer.PLUS What should you look for on a salt lake location wise for gold .

I really enjoy this forum and cant wait to get back over .Havent been able to get this gold prospecting out of my head for 2 years .

Good morning Huckle Berry,
You maybe able to get some info from Janet the Salt Lake Lady she lives in Coolgardie.
Janets website;

Good luck with your venture, Kookynie hotel must have the only Aboriginal spear on display in Australia with a telescopic sight fitted. Shocked

Hi Hound
Have been out on Carey a few times and it is a brilliant place to detect.Heard from a guy called Reno in Laverton on why gold continues to be found there.His theory was that when they flood the wave action resurfaces the gold.Its only a theory but the lastime I went there I pulled a 6 grammer 200 metres from the Jumpup.On a second trip with Laverton Jim 1k out left of the Jumpup he found a patch with totaled 2 ounces.A quaddie towing a large salt coil had missied every piece by inches.This gold should have been found long ago.

On the question of salt coil I was running a 3000 with a 14 coilek salt coil.Perhaps someone can add if a salty is required on latter machines.

Wear good sunnies or you will go blind.

Be carefull its a great place to sink you car down to the axles

Look for entry points on the edges.These salt lakes are low points and collectors of gold that have been flushed or eroded into them

Cheers Dig
