What is a gold tray for

I am new so sorry if this is a dumb question but what is the gold tray for in a high banker and do u need it. i seen it on the pics of the banjo. could someone please help me

Hi Garretson514 and welcome to the site.There is no such thing as a dumb question, only the one's you don't ask. The idea of a gold or catch tray in a high banker is to see if you are getting gold while you are processing the gravel through the high banker. It will be a lot easier to see it that way than constantly pulling down and checking your riffles. I have 2 trays in mine. The 1st one catches about 85-90% of my gold, the 2nd. catches 5-8% and the riffles catch the last lot. So yes the trays are important and a good idea to have them.
