Catch Tray?
Curious about the banjo's catch tray under the hopper, is the tray suppose to self clean "within reason" or do they run loaded??
Modification number 23217 Raise chop stretch hopper/incorporate catch tray!
Gave it a run in the backyard and although my tray runs loaded at the outlet, the material in the tray is like all soft and fluffy
so the exchange of lite's for heavy's would/should be fluent "Maybe"? or

Re: Catch Tray?
it self cleans retaining the gold at the bottom and retains a % of material as well , mine is usually about 3/4 full of material when i take it out.
out of a 4 hour run i get about 2-3 bits in the riffle so that tells you how much the catch tray does catch

Re: Catch Tray?
Thanks for that Rusty, the fact that your tray is 3/4 full at cleanup time would suggest the trays do run rather loaded

Re: Catch Tray?
Someday, if you run that box with the bottom near on level your fire fighter is fine. As for the classifier if you are on fine gold don't go over 10mm, if you are getting gems also, look at 13mm.

Re: Catch Tray?
With the importance of. Doing the right thing my I suggest , seeing that the ranger can make a rule on the day, that you have a look at a pump and motor and keep it to 2.5 hp! I have met a couple of ppl who have been told that they want the motors no bigger than 2.5 hp!!! On the creek! I can't remember if the rule was 5 hp. Back in the ecc box ironbark inquiry ? But again I post " the lands manager on the day has the final say" even back then I knew we would have trouble with that paragraph!!!

Re: Catch Tray?
The idea behind the recent mods was to replace the firefighter with a smaller lightweight pump, been fighten over this for awhile now
It's those super thin flakes of gold that have been given me problems since I moved away from my ramp style catch trays,
the trays worked amazing but needed scary amounts of water, me old spray bars ended up with 3.5 mm jetting x 3 rows of holes
Snowygold, I'm still searching mate, figure the 10 mm slotted holes should fit the bill, just hope I don't have to do the slotting
I'm back in sample mode, so no big deal at the moment!

Re: Catch Tray?
I'm running spray bars with 2 and 1.5 mm holes in alternate lines on a 2.5 hp pump ! No flow problems ! What width is our sluice ?

Re: Catch Tray?
it's 300 wide, that's not the problem, my 90 mm waterfall is where the headache lays "But it works so well"
Should be all good, just need to reduce me riffle spacing due to less water!
3 catch trays and riffles Yeah I'm a doosh.
