Can you use speakers as well as headphones?
Ismael,
How does the audio wireless system work? Can I use the speakers I already own or does it use headphones only.
I saw the picture but could you explain a little more for me please.
I am currently using a 5000 with a B+Z booster and dual speakers.
How might your system compare as I am getting a little tired of the wiggly power cable.

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
You can use a speaker not sure how it would go with 2 speakers never tried. I wouldn't know about the BZ having never seen or had one so I couldn't comment on a comparison. It is an amplified system and I have only used a speaker for the last 5 years or so and it works fine for me. Maybe ask around what others who have one think of the system. I know a few on most forums have one.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply, do you wear another box on your harness that the speaker plugs into, could you explain how the wireless audio works then.
Thanks

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
Yes you have a small box (receiver) with an amplifier on your harness that you plug the headphone/speaker into. The other larger box (Transmitter and power) is attached on the side of the detector and plugs into the detector. The system is totally automatic, just turn on your battery and the detector and away you go. I hope this is clearer to you...
Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
Hi All
I have had this system since it came out, in my opinion it is one of the best accesorries available for the detector operator, the freedom that you get is amazing & I applaude you Ismael I use a single speaker it is the same one that goes with the B&Z.
I have no affiliation with the maker of this unit, just a happy customer, BTW I find that attaching the battery unit under the control box balances the unit better.
cheers

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
it's good to see you say this mate as most people would just say yeah it works fine as they just wont the sale. it's good to see honest people still out there. i remember when i had my 4000 and i was thinking of getting it modded and you said it's not worth it as they are a better the way they are.Ismael wrote:You can use a speaker not sure how it would go with 2 speakers never tried. Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
Gday Ismael,
is the Little Ripper compatable with the standard minelab issued mains and car chargers for the GPX series?
Or do you supply chargers with the Little Ripper?

I supply a multifunction charger that charges and manages any battery chemistry and will charge faster than any other detector charger presently.
Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
Good day Ismael
Good to see that you have updated your MinelabMod forum and put details of your Little Ripper system on it.

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
I thought i'd put in here -just to say Ismael is a great guy -spent alot of his time and money making these and willing to help when needed.
I've had mine a few years now -batteries still in great nick - best system ever :-)
I have twin speakers running(both off the same wire) -works great.
I had the B&Z as well which was great for a wired system - but wireless is a dream.
I'll post pix of my setup if anyone is interested
Cheers

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
I have my battery stuck to the side the the guy who has it underneath sounds like the way to go -may try that myself The connector i constructed myself so it could be used on both the Extreme and later models.

Just under the receiving box you can just see the volume knob -very handy to your left hand -also has
the bypass and power switch on the side. When the backpack is on you -the speakers are right under the ears -so almost as good as headphones but way more comfy.

Just a pic for size reference

If you need a pic of anything in particular just mention it.

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
can you tell me the extra weight of the unit?
Looks great setup and ill look into getting one too!
The freedom when just digging a hole would be well worth it I reckon?
Do you find it balances the machine better or can you feel the extra weight? Its just that my back feels a days detecting now.
Thanks

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
Hi mate -weighs 436g i use a bungee - so no noticeable strain on the back.
Would notice the weight if you detect without a bungee or any support.
All minuses of using this setup are cancelled by not having that annoying power cord hooking
onto every branch or tripping you up and also being able to dig quickly without wires messing you up.

Re: Little Ripper Wireless Battery
Hi mate - i just had a look at Ismael's site and the new one doesn't have the voltage switch - so looks like
you'd have to make your own or ask and see if Ismael can do anything.
This looks like it would do the job (i think)
