Closest Places to Sydney

Hi everyone. Only new to the site and gold fossicking. Still don't even own a pan at this stage will have one by the weekend tho. I have a question I live in Sydney, where would be the closest places to pan for gold. Thanks in advance

Well known haunts closer to Sydney where a you can cut your teeth (with some chance of gold) include Oallen Ford to the south, Sunny Corner through to Sofala/Hillend and the Tuena area to the west.
These are well known areas you can find maps and info for on this site and others. Your best bet would be to see if you can find a kind hearted soul to let you tag along on a trip to show you the basics.
