Garmin Oregon 450t
A few days ago purchased one of these and whilst still getting the hang of it am very pleased with the 450t as a replacement for my ancient Garmin 12.
The only thing I can't do is to get the 450t to interface with the computer. Have downloaded the files garmin/products/communicator as per the manual. All that happens when I plug the 450t into the computer via the USB port is that the GPS screen has a picture of a computer terminal and the Garmin logo.
Has anyone out there had any experience with these Garmins and if could please pass on some tips as to what I am doing wrong.
Cheers

Re: Garmin Oregon 450t
Hi, I will assume you are using Windows. When you first connected the device did it come up with "new hardware found" ? If no, and it still doesn't come up, check the cable or try another USB port. If yes the first time or subsequent times, it may not have found drivers for the device, see if there is any software in the box to setup. If it doesn't know what it is it will register as unknown hard ware and do nothing. Probably need drivers.

That is what it should do. What you will have to do is run the program that you want to use. ie Oziexplorer, Etc

Garmin has a Free Program called BaseCamp that can be downloaded from their Web Page.

Re: Garmin Oregon 450t
Thanks very much for your replies and assistance. Appears I was a bit confused as thought I could run the 450t from the computer as it was. Will have a look at Basecamp or OziExplorer and see how I get on.
Have to say the instruction manual is rather vague and assumes users have prior knowledge.
Again thanks

Re: Garmin Oregon 450t
Have just downloaded BaseCamp and pleased that it works very well. Can see my tracks and waypoints, still have quite a bit to get the hang of but will work it out in time.
Will have a look at OziExplorer in a few days time.
Again thanks to Geoff and Cams for their help.
