Re: Oregon 450
Hi Swaggy - I can not answer some of your questions but if you want free auto routing (good in cities rather than country) try http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ This is OSM. Another alternative is FOSM but I haven't downloaded yet.
OziExplorer won't work on the oregon I do not think. It is better suited to a laptop or Ipad. Others will have views I'm sure.

The Oregon will work on Ozi Explorer (not the other way round) It will allow you to transfer tracks and waypoint to and from the GPS. A neat trick is to plot a trax in Ozi send it to the GPS turn the detail down (on the gps map)and follow the trax on the GPS

Garmin
Or you could download free from Garmin the BaseCamp program and have a topo australia.
I find it very easy to make the routes in BaseCamp and save them on the micro-sd card.
If you are interested i am selling a topo australia v3 (newest edition) at 65 AUD
Just send me a PM
Best regards cruiser
