Hi, I have just signed up to the forum and seen the Laanecoorie Weekend, sounds like a great trip!

I don't know anyone yet but I would like to come and meet other people who like detecting.

Do I need to bring a detector or can I tag along with the group? I bought my detector from England and it goes crazy on Australian soil and I havn't bought my new one yet.

I would love to come along with my wife and meet some members.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. The weekend is designed as an informal get together to meet fellow forum members, pick up a few hints and fine tune your technique.

It is up to individuals as to how they form their groups over the weekend so I cannot guarantee or speak for anyone as to joining a group, but if you have a great attitude I'm sure you will fit in somewhere.
There will be 2 sessions that you and everyone else is more than welcome to join, both these sessions will be instructional.

If I was you I would post up a note to see if someone might loan you a detector for a day or there is always the option of hiring ????

Would love to see you come along so let's know your thoughts

PS... What is you detector you have at the moment, maybe it just needs tuning by one of our more experienced users??

The goldstalker might just pop his head in, would be great to catch up with a few from last time like Dingo, Fly speck, Stoppsy and the list goes on....Won't be staying at the park this time, all set up for bush camps!!

hi steve, you can hire one from coiltek maryborough for the day or for a few days. i would give them a ring and see if they have any for that weekend.

My 9 year old daughter is coming, she likes to go out detecting with me unless there is something better on offer. 4YO son coming too.

I have just spoken to Robyn from the Laanecoorie Caravan Park and she has informed me that they still have 5 powered sites left, 1 cabin and 3 bed rooms left from a 4 bed room home ( shared bath room and kitchen). Plenty of non powered sites left and if you come with a camper trailer and have not booked in yet that requires power then Robyn and Jim can probable proved that as well, but may be tucker away some were, as the main powered sites are used for full on vans ect. But you can work that out with them. Don't forget to let them also know, (now or when you arrive) if you would like to partake in the Saturday night roast dinner for $12.50 per head, by no later than Friday Night the 25th.

We are absolute newbies (Level 1) and have found nothing but bullets and junk so far (but have not been out there very much either).
I hope it is OK to attend with just an xterra 705?

We would love to see how experienced detectors operate in real conditions.
The event sounds GREAT and we have booked into the caravan park for the weekend.
