Hi GDG
Just spotted ur post here - I think there is another thread about this weekend which has popped up somewhere else on this forum.
Rosie Bugs (my goldy) and I will be there on the Fri & Sat - taking our swag just in case we do stay over (a pitch space is booked) but we only live up the road so can pop home to care for other pets etc. Can't wait to meet everyone - it should be a great long weekend for all.

Laanecoorie
Hi,
I have made a booking at the park and am looking forward to attending the weekend so I may learn how to enjoy this hobby even more. Whilst I do not know anyone personally, I am hoping to meet some of the people who feature so prominently on the forum and learn from them.
Regards

Hi Warragul,
Great to hear you are coming and welcome aboard.
The weekend is exactly key around what you are looking for, an informal event where you can meet like minded prospectors and form lasting friendships while learning more about prospecting
Look forward to catching up soon

Re: LAANECOORIE 2012 ITS ON AGAIN Updated 22nd April With The Program & More Sponsors
Hi All,
I will be coming along with my parents who are travelling down from NSW.
I have booked a cabin and the lady said there is only one left.
Hopefully I will be a bit more familiar with my 5000 by then.
I am looking forward to it!
Shaun

I'm a undecided about what to do on the Saturday. Being fairly new to detecting the trainning sounds good, but I would also like to head out with the other experienced operators. Oh what to do.......

Hi Cams 4500,
Good question and one that I think allot of people might be asking.
The whole weekend is about YOU and what you wish to get out of it and what you want to make of it, so please don't feel like you have to do something that really you don't want to. The weekend is about getting to know other forum members and maybe pick up some extra knowledge on the way that will improve your chances out there. The weekend is very much like the forum, you must give to receive as I have been told many times in the past.
The Saturday morning test pit last year was a very valuable couple of hours for me, it was a great time to meet other forum members and discuss the finer points of detector set ups, choice of Coils and even some valuable bush craft was learnt. I have just had word that there was some gold found just near the test pit this week and I can vouch for over 3g of gold that I pulled out of there over Easter last year, so there is still some gold in that area.
Suggestion..
If you are still torn between what to do and you are eager to get out early Saturday morning, how about this.
Hit the area around the test pit early Saturday morning, meet up with the forum at the pit for a couple of Hrs and morning tea and then you will have 5-6 Hrs left in the afternoon & Sunday to hit that special spot??
Only a suggestion, but I think it will work a treat.

Re: LAANECOORIE 2012 Very Important Notice Under The Program Updated 10/05/2012
What? Get up early? Surely you jest
One thing our caravan is good for and that is insullation, we have a habit of sleeping in when staying in it.
I think the trainning for the morning is the sensible thing to do, but I do want to get out in the arvo and Sunday with the experienced guys. I'm pretty sure that will happen.
Ever thought of posting a list of who is going?

Hi Cams 4500,
We have just purchased a van and I can relate to what you are saying, over Easter it was hard to venture out in the mornings??
As for a list, I have most of the names from people that have responded on the forum, but I do know of a few that have booked in at the park but not informed us yet. I don't want to invade anyone's privacy by posting a list, but if there is anyone that does not want their name to be posted maybe they can PM me and the rest I will post??
Kindest Regards

Re: LAANECOORIE 2012 Very Important Notice Under The Program Updated 10/05/2012
Sounds like a good idea to hide on request. I have always liked lists ongoing has to who is attending, helps build anticipation and may encourage others if they see names they know or those they want to meet. Could work in reverse I guess as well, but then if someone dislikes someone, at least they know upfront (of course that wouldn't be the case here)
Bear in mind, the only previous lists like this I have seen have been on golf forums for meet up days for a game.
As for getting up, it will only get worse as we have just ordered an annexe, if it's cold outside, it might be a slow breakfast.

Hi Cams 4500,
Yes agree about the posting of names so we will see who doesn't want their name up and respect their decision.
I LOL at the annex, my wife came home just today with an Electric blanket and said if she has to spend a cold autumn / winters weekend in the triangle then she is going to do it in style and comfort.
Talk soon

Hey Peter,
My wife was even better. After the second day in Laanecoorie i had to drop her to Maryborough Train station (at 6am) as she wanted to go home.(mind you we had a 2 bedroom deluxe cabin). Her short lived career in goldfields is well and truly over.
Stayed another day and had a ball.

At Easter in MB, it was quite cold at night, as the kids were sleeping inside we either have to be quiet or sit outside. My parents were with us, so we sat outside mostly. Now we can sit outside and be warm with a heater, sorry Jim. Of course if their is a raging fire nearby we will probably be there.
Actually got a good deal on an annexe. However I had to sort out the ride height first as it's a bit low, bye bye more cash.

If anyone is in need of tent accommodation, I will be bringing both my big, and my small tents ... small tent sleeps 2, and I am happy to make that available to anyone who needs it. I also have solar available and a heap of other gear that will be coming with me in my 'camp ready truck'.
Feel free to contact me via PM ...

Hi All,
Just posted an update that can be found under the Program at the start of this post so please take the time to read it.
There will be a Roast on offer for Saturday night for a small cost, this is being put on by Jim and Robyn from the Park.
This will take all that rushing around cooking a meal when you get back from prospecting on Saturday.
See the post fro more info.
Kindest Regards
