Fools gold?
I went to Mt Baw Baw today for a bit of a 4x4 and an explore and I found in one of the creeks that the sandy bottom was sparkling with gold dust.....im wondering if this is what you call FOOL'S GOLD??

Re: Fools gold?
Heidii It certainly at first glance looks like the genuine gold. It is hard to judge the scale without references.
Crush the sample with the side of a knife blade. If it crumbles it is fools gold. If it just bends it is the real stuff.

Re: Fools gold?
Sorry mate but it is fools gold or another name for it is Mika. If you ever see something like that but not to sure, put your hand under the water just above the gravel and wave it, if the item that you are looking at disperse and floats away it is not gold. Gold will stay there.
