Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
What's the delay with that 20 inch anvil of a coil, for the GPZ 7000? The larger slugs of gold are burrowing deeper as we speak.

Kon61 , they will be making the 20" as standard only with the release of the gpz7500 which will be priced at a very reasonable $15999.00 .
Im sure the pros will find this price very reasonable since they would have already paid for their 7000's many , many times over already .

Hey Kon
Can I ask? have you picked up some larger bits at depth with the GPZ that you missed with the GPX? just trying to get the picture why the need for the big coil, surely you haven't detected all the big gold yet ?

Re: Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
Spot on Schist Lips. More of a ground coverage issue than anything else.
Lee,more of wanting to break the 15 inch mark on gold, over sections of highly mineralized ground, but, like the new 18 inch Coiltek Elite coil, the gold has to be beyond the 3 oz+ mark,to see much of a difference in depth over that of the GPZ's 14x13. Rest assured that areas of high mineralization, are notorious for hiding/blanketing gold of all shapes & sizes & sometimes,at quite shallow depths as well.
Whether the GPZ can do,or go better at finding larger slugs of gold,at greater depths than any previous pulse systems,is yet to be seen, but,I sure am looking forward to putting it to the test, with a larger coil to suit.
I certainly don't see that happening to soon backcreek. To release a new version GPZ now,at $15000+ when people are already debating its current price/capabilities,over that of the GPX's coupled to current coil technology, would be a disaster for Minelab. It would simply never get off the ground.
Keep in mind, for most us detectorists, its only a hobby, for I certainly can't speak for the pro's who are willing to venture deep within WA or Queensland, full time chasing the golden ointment.
Cheers Kon.

Re: Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
Hey Kon & Lips
If it is purely a ground coverage issue? coupled with effective handling of mineralisation !
Here is my take on it !
For effective ground coverage (prospecting new ground) moving through reasonably quick whilst still effectively covering the ground ie; maximising ground covered in the given time.
With what we know of the GPZ 7000, to maximise it's performance it requires a slower very controlled swing speed & height.
On the other hand the GPX5000 or GPX4500 coupled with the new generation coils are achieving exciting things & have bridged the gap with the GPZ somewhat? the GPX does not require the slower swing speed to ensure maximum effectiveness.
For purely covering more ground with a bit more speed, I would favour the GPX, well all know that once you ping the first bit you slow down & start working the area.

Re: Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
Quite right there Lee.It's because of that slower controlled swing speed, needed for maximum ground penetration on the GPZ,that takes ages for large flat open areas to be covered. The current 14x13 (like the 14 round in NF or Coiltek) just don't cut it when it comes to ground coverage.
The larger 18/20 inch coils are specifically designed for just that. Since depth is proportional to the size of the gold slug encountered,I have no doubt that a larger coil on the GPZ,will cover more ground in less time & achieve far greater depths on muti-ounce slugs than ever before possible.
It is quite apparent that Minelab had tested, both larger/smaller coils for the GPZ 7000,prior to it being released, settling with the current top all rounder 14x13
We all know thought that specific type/size coils, are designed for specific type/size/gold ground coverage and no one size/type coil, can give the best performance over all type/size/gold ground conditions. Besides if we keep swinging the same size coil year in year out,it be only a matter of time before these coils need replacing.Knowing I'v got no other choice but to replace it with another same 14x13 is damage to the brain neurons.
Just as variety is the spice of life,so are different size/type coils to a detector no?
Cheers Kon.

Hopefully it's not too far off, I know a few mates who are looking forward to getting into the cooler ground over the next few months. Given the success of the SDC 2300 I doubt whether a smaller coil will ever be released for the Zed. Minelab must be living these package deals.

Re: Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
and am waiting with anticipation to get my hands on one. Although the SDC is in a league of its own concerning smaller gold/versatility/portability,over the average mineralized ground conditions, but I seriously doubt, that by introducing a smaller coil than the 14x13 for the GPZ,will make the SDC obsolete. Lets not forget, there is a huge price difference between the two to start off with, not to mention weight.

Re: Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
Kon61, do not tell anybody, but a mate of mine who lives round the corner from us knows a chappy who works for minelab and he tells me that they are bringing out a new deal in a couple weeks, calling it a GPZ 7100 and it has the large 20" coil.
he tells me that this coil will go 18% deeper and will supposedly be the new generation for large gold.
and the best part is it will be 18% cheaper than the 7000 and sell for $8740 which is about 18% cheaper than when the 7000 was released.what i understood from my mate is minelab are trying to win back some browny points from disgruntled 7000 purchasers.
he also told me that the coil is helium filled to reduce weight but it is also about an inch thicker than there other coil.
kon61, this is only between me and you though. Cheers TG

too late for april fools day
Hey guys,
Aren't w e a bit late for the april fools jokes? Why would they bring out a combo likr that just after reducing the price. That would only upset the zed ow ners even more.

Re: Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
Good one TG Whether Minelab brings out something new soon, ups or downs their detector/coil prices, they simply have no other competition, when it comes to hand held "gold" detecting technology. Price-wise,they can do/ask what they like.We on the other hand can lump it,or leave it. But crying over spilt milk, after making a conscious decision to purchase something & then finding out that that particular item that you have bought, has dropped in price within a week/month or so,is ridiculous. Results is what I'm after & if there's something better,at finding natural in ground gold than the current 7000,I'll show you exactly where my loyalty lies,It's called "out with the old and in with the new".If a new 20 inch coil for the GPZ does come out soon & is capable of giving an extra 18% depth advantage, over that of the 14x13,on the same size slug of gold,I'd be over the moon.To "me",that coil,is worth its weight in gold.

I am busting for the large coil to swing slow and look for deep slugs, especially where they have been found previously. I won't be getting any new coil that is smaller then the current Zed coil....whats the point, the current coil finds very small gold at good depths.
The ideal time to release the new big coil in Australia is now at the start of the winter prospecting season.....but then again for Minelab the Australian market counts for nothing on the world stage.

Finally & not long to go now fellas. Minelab has officially announced the release of a larger 19 in super D coil for the GPZ 7000,sometime mid year (most likely June/July this year) Just look at me go fellas

We hear some good news, this coming week,on the actual release date,of the new 19 inch Super D coil, for the GPZ 7000. Regardless of price,I'm quite sure there's more than one 7000 user, chomping at the bit to get their hands on one.

Hope you're correct about the good news sometime over the next few days Kon, available in-store November one would be really nice; but I'm not holding my breath and it would be a fair bet there would be a few other 7000 owners thinking along the same lines, time will tell.

Yep,like yourself,I'm only being optimistic about it,AUoptimist, but, one more 3 month push back/delay & people are going to be thinking twice about purchasing it,considering Minelab might have had, just one to many issues with it,during its construction/program/design.(hence the delays)
Fingers crossed, this won't be the case this time round.
Yep Harb,we really don't have much of a choice. We either dive on it blindly, the moment it becomes available,or wait for who knows how long, before we hear of it's success?
D**n you Minelab. You've got us over a barrel and hard

Sometimes I wonder about their release of new products......its almost like they want to screw the last drop of usefulness out of a current product before making you totally desperate to get the new one and pay the asking price without question.......they really don't have any competition, so they are almost regulating their guaranteed income to an extent........just another conspiracy theory though lol

Sorry..... just would not surprise me if they did. This coil may go deep but not a daily swinger ...do to weight. I had a NF 20" and hardly used it..besides how can anything go deeper than the 20 " or 25" NF Mono coils??

Re: Houston to Minelab,Houston to Minelab,Do You Read me Minelab?
Agree with what you say California. It is a large heavy coil, specifically designed for ground coverage, over vast, flat, deep terrain.None the less it will serve a purpose somewhere,at some stage in time.
What none of us here like,is to be strung along, time after time, about the coils availability date. What ever issues Minelab might be having with the coil or its release date, best to say nothing at all, until the new coil has been given the green light for release.
Either that,or Minelab are deliberately dragging it out buying time,in warning all 7000 users well in advance,to have their nickles & dimes saved,so that the shock of the new coils price tag, don't knock most 7000 users off their perch.
Cheers Kon.
