Re: The Hipstick
They do transfer the weight to your hip so if you have
hip trouble mightn't help much.
I bought 2 for the record .
Nice to see they have come down in price at last with the soaring dollar.

Re: The Hipstick
Gotta love the politics in here....
I fix my own car. build anything i can, from the front fence to the tiling, to my sluice.
Maybe some people have to save a dollar here and there to get by...
I know i do sometimes...
Copying an idea is great ( if it works)
Selling someones idea is a low act...
I am not trying to get involed in the politics around this forum because there is way too much of it !!!!
But ( excluding the hipstick) most Aussies get ripped off on so many items to pay for the 20 middle men.
Probably why our fruit and vege's rots on the ground, and we eat vietnamese prawns grown in sewerage.

Re: The Hipstick
Politics aside guys, I absolutely couldn't do without my hipstick, being a gal with shoulder problems. Don't care how much I had to pay for it, it's worth every cent

Re: The Hipstick
Hi all, I just wanted to say that I have used a hip stick thingy type device for the last two years and without it I would've probably have had to give the hobby up.
I did buy an aftermarket product for much less than the $65 and that is my choice to spend my hard earned however I choose.
One thing I have noticed is people adding bands or other devices to hold the ball in the socket (modifications of the purchased product) , I don't use any of these mods and never had a problem with the product I use. Not saying it is better and I'm not saying it isn't either, this is what I have personally found.
It may be morally wrong to purchase such an item but it isn't illeagle and if I needed to buy antoher one I would take the same avenue agian.
I also fit aftermarket parts to my vehicles, I use aftermarket coils on my minelab as well (so does this mean that we should all be swinging minelab coils only off our minelab machines? so we do not make a morally wrong decision )
I choose to copy, make and redesign my own things aswell ie. trailers, bbq's, camping gear, furniture etc etc.
The hipstick was a wonderful invention no doubt.

Re: The Hipstick
Polak and anyone else who cares to read this, the HipSticks you purchase from or through us are licensed from the inventor of the BiggLugg (Detectoraid web site for more info) which is then built into the price of the HipStick from the manufacturer/inventor. I understand all about Aussie ingenuity and the desire to improve on the wheel or have a crack at making one yourself and I don't have a problem with it, what I do however have a problem with is actively encouraging others on a public forum when it it blatantly obvious that it is the morally wrong thing to do especially after I have done all the hard work and pay someone for their design efforts right through to the original inventor of the key features of the product.
If this is the way this forum is going to be allowed to be run then think long and hard about all the other little innovations that you take for granted in your day to day detecting endeavors because they will soon dry up if the donkey comes to realise the carrot has gone. I feel I am well and truly justified in my stance on the matter and anyone with a common thread of decency about them would agree, Trashdiggers latest post and pictures just tells me how low he is prepared to stoop to justify his preparedness to rip off all and sundry regardless of the ethics involved, for anyone to agree with him just lowers the standards of the forum even further, the question then is, where does it end?
Regards
Jonathan Porter
G'day Jonathan,
I can tell you where its ends. With a risen popularity (read market take off), and I am only talking about the Australian Market not the US/European Market, more and more DIY builds will come up. For a simple but never less brilliant device as yours there is no way around it and you will have to live with it and nod it ok, as long as the percentage is not exceeding 3%-5% of your annual production sales.
The device is unknown by now in Europe, but sure it won't take long till the word is out and the DIY'ers won't wait if there is nothing on the market to buy, there is a market in the treasure hunting community over there, I am quite sure about that.
What you really have to look out some day, are the copycat operations big stile. It’s the destiny and problem of any simple but effective use products going popular. If the hipstick is taking off, you will face the problem sooner or later.
Be prepared for it. As a starter, print or engrave Serial No. on each and single one with production year and other identifying info, if not don so allredy. Helps you to identify the crap production from yours in liability cases, believe me someday you will hold a copy in your hand even you will believe it was made in your production until you make a material testing. Get the major detector producers on your side. This of course would require some other and more defined prerequisites in the legal arena to place the deal.
I like them, and I will buy from your stocks.

If the hip problem is not really bad, one could gear some of the “need on the job tools” on the left/or right side for counterbalance.
