hipstick holder snapped - help! Empty hipstick holder snapped - help!

Post  Guest Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:37 pm

Last trip out bush, my hipstick holder snapped (the part that slips onto your belt). Cable tied it on for the rest of the trip, which was OK, but started wearing the ball unevenly. Since I've been back, have had a lot of trouble finding a new holder. The two companies that sell the hipstick here in Perth can't sell me the holder, but I don't want to have to buy a complete hipstick at $60 as I only need the holder.
I've heard that Bunnings sell them as a 'Bigg Lugg brand belt clip tool holding system'. A friend has tried 3 stores with no joy. Have gone to the links online, but can only seem to get one sent from the US or UK at exhorbitant prices and postage.
Does anyone know if I can buy these locally in Perth at any outlets? Must be someone who stocks them. No go at Bunnings so far and went to a specialist carpentry tool supplier today and they've never heard of them. Really need to get sorted before I go out again next week. Any help appreciated...

Bunnings, Rockingham stock them.
Try giving them a call before making the trip.

Thanx everyone for your help, will follow up on these leads. never thought one of these would be so hard to find and I think the guy who invented them should offer the holder as a spare part as I've now heard of five people who have snapped theirs...Suz

Hi Suz.
Make that 6!
Mine snapped 2 weeks into a 12 week detecting trip in remote WA
Bought the expensive one thinking the quality would be better.
Oh well.
Cheers spinna

A friend of mine found this on ebay and the guy also sells spare holders for $12.95. Very prompt reply, helpful and easy to deal with...problem sorted! Smile

Rocket, that unit is purely for a hipstick retainer that fixes to the retainer and not the actual belt clip when I read the post carefully

Home depot or Lowes here in the USA sell the belt clips...

a nylon sheath for a flashlight (TORCH) OR A SHEATH FOR A FOLDING KNIFE WILL SUBSTITUTE IN A PINCH...sorry about tha Caps....

I guess you Australians are pretty rough with your stuff...I have had my hipstick three years with no problems...easy boys, easy...
