Re: Ureka Gold Detector
being a VLF detector, i don't think your going to find much gold with that in CQ given our noisy ground.
Personally i think you need a GP series detector as a minimum to find gold in our ground. ... Not just saying that as i offered to sell you mine...
but for $1500, you should be able to get a SD 2100 or SD 2200 which will be better than the Eureka Gold

Thanks Goldbait
You taught me something,be a newbie, learning is great, and very necessary, thanks. You taught me that the ground around here is minerilized and noisey,I did not know that. What about buying a Minilab X - terra 705 or the Fisher Gold Bug 2.I really appreciate what you say, thanks again.
Knowing that you live pretty close to me,if you feel you could take me one day for a dig, that would be great.Firstly I am trying to get some lessons at Gympie, and then I will by my Detector, then mybe we can look.I thought if someone helped me,they could have half of what I found for a while, how ever long that is,that means they get 75%.Anyway,please give me your opinion on those two detectors, and I will take it from there.
Thanks again
Goldbait.

Re: Ureka Gold Detector
I think both of those machines are good, but they are still VLF detectors. Others should be able to give u more information on those 2 detectors.
Strawberry... As you know i had a GP extreme. Well i just sold this to upgrade to a GPX 5000. The reason being that most of the gold fields around here have been preety much flogged and i needed something that was better than everyone else to find the remaining gold.. and there will still be plenty left.
The other reason, in highly mineralised ground (found this stuff in NSW) i had to run on tracking mode which reduces depth of the detector. However i havedn't detected around Colliope yet so i can't comment on that. Most other places i could run in Fixed mode.
