DETECTING IN NSW WHILST TRAVELLING IN MOTORHOME
In early May I have the option of travelling from QLD down through NSW and into Vic in a motorhome (therefore limited to mainly bitumen, or all weather roads travel) either via the coast or inland, and I am looking for suggestions on where I could do some detecting on my way South. I have no plans and a GP 3000 which I have rarely used. I would love to spend some time in the scrub with all the peace and quiet and take my time scrounging around. Suggestions would be appreciated

Why not just do a bit of surfing the net before you set off and look for some articles regarding old time prospecting patches in Qld, Nsw and Vic. There are countless numbers not far from a road or track, as it is surprising just how these roads and tarcks sprang up in such short periods of time. Of copurse due to these old prospecting areas becoming small towns nowadays.
Cant actually offer any exact locations on those areas as I am in WA and dont know the Eastern areas

Re: DETECTING IN NSW WHILST TRAVELLING IN MOTORHOME
I have spent hours surfing the web including this site and came up with areas close to the coast as well as inland. After all the searching I was thoroughly confused and decided to throw it into the forum hoping someone would suggest an option that would help me decide....The choices are many and varied..

Mate go to the Information on Goldfields and look at information there. If you can use google earth look at the data I have pasted there. This will give you the locations of historical mine sites in every state of australia. Once you have selected some spots come back and ask the members here for more info.

Maybe you can help us first like what main route are you taking on your way down that way we might just have a spot close to the road for you to pull in for a quick swing

Re: DETECTING IN NSW WHILST TRAVELLING IN MOTORHOME
I have no preference as to which way I am going. I am heading back to Victoria and after looking at the many possible gold detecting and old mine sites around I was hoping that someone may have a suggestion about interesting sites they have visited. I set up a Google Maps site with old mines and prospecting areas that I could refer to later and it has become bigger than the proverbial. My limitation is the 8 metre motorhome. Dirt roads are not a problem but gullies and low hanging trees are. I was really just picking peoples brains and waiting for some enthusiast to recommend a scenic perhaps interesting spot. From what I can see, as a new operator, we have thousands of people wandering around looking for that big nugget so it is no longer a matter of wanting to become rich, it is a matter of the whole experience of being out bush and enjoying the experience.....Does that make sense. Do you have areas that you enjoyed poking around in and that are accessible...scenic.....and quiet......?

Beautiful.... I live in the Gold Triangle but am currently in Northern NSW heading to QLD and then back to Vic. I will check that Inglewood area out.

One of the places you will find interesting will be at Whroo which is south of Rushworth in Victoria.
You can do some detecting as well as enjoy the tour of the area including the Balaclava Mine
The best place to stay would be in Nagambie or Shepparton.
Best of Luck
Jeff

I did some panning in that area in the late 70's when it was still off the beaten track. I gave up after seeing 3 Red-Belly Black snakes within 1 hour. They did not move when I was walking around and I spotted them under shrubs or near water. I was worried I would not see the next one. I also had my young (6) son with me.
Rushworth is one of those names that invokes dreams of riches still undiscovered, and back then was an unspoilt, almost primitive, town. I will go back there on my way through. Nagambie is a beautiful area with its huge lake.
Thanks for the suggestion
