Well done Dave, I really hate it when I find a big piece first up as it makes you feel a bit expectant like you are going to get an even bigger one, and then all you get is a series of tiddlers for the next 8 days or so , but as long as you are getting gold its all good.

There have also been many trips where all I have found is small pieces day after day, and then on the day before you have to head home, bang you score a nice piece, and then until you can get back to that spot again all you can do is wonder if there more there

This is one of the things I like the most about gold detecting is that you never know when and where you are going to get something, for me a big part of the pleasure is in the hunt and just being able to be out there and having a go, the gold is the icing on the cake.

PS whats the road (silvercity)like Dave same as usaul???, grass/weeds height,fly report,are there still pretty goats around or are there only ugly ones left now,what colour shoes are in fashion up there, you know the usual questions.

Sensational piece for that part of the woods, Congratulations. Second largest I've seen, and the largest (approx 2oz similar waterworn appearence with just a nice amount of quartz/granite?) was about 10 years ago. Hope there's more for you
